Copyvio[edit]

I guess because the cached address is so long, it won't fit in the copyvio tag, but it is http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:S3pYpyigTBUJ:www.bibliothecapersica.com/articles/v10f6/v10f612.html+Heydar+Ghia%C3%AF-Chamlou+influential+pioneer+of+modern&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us Which appears to be an entry in some Persian encyclopedia Ford MF 23:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copy write issue[edit]

I have written this text myself and did not copy it from any Encyclopaedia. I own the original photo as well. If my artcle resembles another, I'd be happy to rephrase it. Since for the last 20 years, I have written articles on Heydar Ghiai, it is also possible that other sites may have copy my writing although I do not wish to accuse anyone. Did you follow the link above to that Persian encyclopedia? The text isn't similar, it's identical, word for word. Ford MF 03:27, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr Ford,

I followed the link you provided and I now recall what may have happened.

You are correct to say that that article is very similar for the simple reason that over 13 years ago, that text, which I wrote was sent to them at their request including the bibliography. I don't know that this qualifies as copyrightte infrigement but if it does then it was my fault.

I have written another article for wikipedia which is now in the temporary (talk) page and which I hope will be placed in the artcle section.

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Heydar_Ghiai"

I think you're being a little disingenuous here. It isn't as if you "accidentally" reproduced some basic text you wrote (if you did) years ago, this was clearly cut and pasted from another source. One of the telltales of such uncritical cutting and pasting are "see also" instructions that refer to another section of the source it came from, such as the sentence "Ghiai studied architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts (see FACULTIES ii)". Had you just now written that sentence, there would have been no reason to write "see FACULTIES ii". It was copied from an article intended for inclusion somewhere other than Wikipedia.
As it is, I don't think the other article passes Wikipedia's notability guidelines. I couldn't find much in the way of reputable sources when I tried casually googling the subject's name. And you'll have to produce some to bring the article in line with Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Ford MF 05:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you follow the extensive bibliography which I have included and are remotly familiar with them, you would not have made this statement! As for the "see Faculties ii" I was going to expand on this article to inlclude the various faculties in which Heydar Ghiai studied and tought. Simply "googling" a subject is hardly scholarly. Anyhow even google sites many sources and publications.

Heydar Ghiai's work[edit]

I have written a new (temp) page on Heydar Ghiai. I kept the information minimal so that I will not be accused in the furure. I hope that the administrator will publish my latest version.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yghiai (talkcontribs) 00:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Help/Question[edit]

How long does it take before permission is given to write an article from scratch? It would be a great loss if the comprehensive work of Heydar Ghiai would not be featured in Wikepedia.

There's no time limit. You just can't use text that's been published elsewhere. Ford MF 06:26, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
