I deleted the following information because it is about this individual and not about the town itself.

Former resident establishes benchmark records[edit]

Donald Attig, of Pontiac, Illinois, lived in Herrin in the early seventies. It was in Herrin that he fabricated moulds to produce a housing system which he had invented and developed in upstate Pontiac. The prototype, which was a breakthrough in manufactured housing, became a permanent exhibit on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds, located in Du Quoin. Many famous people stayed in the house, including Bob Hope. Now in his seventies, Attig established numerous records in both the Endurance Challenge and Adventure Challenge categories in the years 2007, 2008, 2009. Information about these can be found at www.donattig.wordpress.com Additional information can be accessed by clicking on his name above, which will activate an internal Winkipedia link. Three of his children, William Joseph, John Paul, and Caleb Thomas currently live in Southern Illinois. John Paul was born aboard a 3 mast sailing ship and may be the only current resident of Southern Illinois to have been born on a sailing ship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.135.194.134 (talk) 04:26, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed Page's structural/coding errors, moved "Stotlar Family" to History section[edit]

The user who edited the page before me with the IP Address of 63.153.20.255 added some uncited information about a supposed local family named the "Stotlars" who purportedly helped to establish the town of Herrin. This user obviously had little to no experience in editing Wikipedia articles and more or less vandalized the article with his/her addition. Rather than adding the information about the Stotlars to the proper section with proper citations, this user simply clicked the first edit button he/she came across, plopped their information in a blank space near the top of the top section's edit page, clicked "save" and went on about his/her merry way, not at all bothered by the damage he or she had done to this page's structural integrity. It is my opinion that this user needs to be banned from further editing of this page if possible. Mwhit42 (talk) 20:20, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Herrin massacre[edit]

In fact, those killed were managers, guards, and replacement workers during a strike. This subject merits more detail. Nicmart (talk) 00:39, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
