hangon tagging[edit]

Not my article, but schools are not eligible for speedy. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 03:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is needed to improve the tone of this article?[edit]

I read the pages that discuss tone and I believe all the content is in third person and is factual content. It provides both facts about the school and some of the history for how it was founded. If you have editorial input for me, I would be grateful. This is my first attempt at a Wikipedia article. I read similar articles about Christian K12 schools in the US and tried to fit in with the content I found elsewhere.

I would like to create another page that discusses the previous school, Heritage Christian School of Northern Colorado. That school was formed in 1970 and was a very successful independent private Christian school for more than 3 decades. With a few thousand alumni, it seems appropriate to provide the history of the school in Wikipedia. This article describes the new school for those interested in what happened in the summer of 2007. Improving tone[edit]

I just reworded the intro, updated the InfoBox, and added a reference to establish the history of the founding of the school from a newspaper article. I am struggling with whether to merge this article with information about the previous Heritage Christian School of Northern Colorado. There is so much that is the same from the former school. The former school is clearly notable because of appearances in Colorado State regional sports contests, because of notable alumni, and because of academic and other awards. For example, in its last year of existence, HCSNC won the judges award from the ACSI for its yearbook. HCA, on the other hand, is brand new and so has less notable to say about it save its unusual founding.

Anyway, there is more to say for another day. Dreeser (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:13, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing updates for accuracy[edit]

I updated the page today to be more accurate in our references to FACE (Foundation for American Christian Education). Their curriculum (that is used by the school) is called the Noah Plan (after Noah Webster). Their approach to learning is called the Principle Approach which teaches 7 key principles of learning and utilizes well organized notebooks the students use for research and note taking.

I also updated some history and added a picture of the center jump circle from the new gymnasium. This is significant for Heritage as the school has been around for almost 40 years and it finally has its own gymnasium.

I am still open to suggestions on improving the tone of the article. I have a lot of history and information about Heritage Christian School, the school that HCA replaced. I would like to put it in this same article. There are some notable alumni (at least notable in Colodado), some awards issued and championships won, etc. Dreeser (talk) 21:19, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do I do to remove the Inappropriate tone and Advert tags from this page?[edit]

I have worked on improving the tone and the textual content to alleviate these concerns. Do I just delete the tags and let someone put them back if they are still appropriate? Dreeser (talk) 17:57, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, so I read the page on tagging and I got my answer. Dreeser (talk) 18:01, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Inappropriate tone and Advert tags[edit]

I am posting this topic to inform the reader of my intention of removing these tags as of 8/7/09 unless I read objections here. I believe I have already addressed the concerns. Dreeser (talk) 18:01, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding COI tag[edit]

I am primarily writing this comment directed to user Theroadislong who added the COI tag to the page.

I am unclear on what needs to be done about this tag. The person with the login name of HCACommunications is associated with the school. She updates the information as changes occur (such as when the school dropped baseball and added track). None of the changes she has made are in the realm of interpretation or viewpoint. This page is mostly filled with verifiable facts, not opinions or superlatives. It is not an advertisement but intended to be educational for someone trying to find out something about the school. There is a link to the school web page so that the curious can go there and read material that is more subject to bias or slant.

I am curious who typically maintains the article describing a school in the WikiProject Schools. Who keeps the facts up to date? If not a teacher, secretary, or principal, then who? Would it be allowable to have a current student, say one of the kids on the yearbook staff, keep it up to date?

What we will do is add information about those editing so that it is visible using the Connected Contributor tag.

I am a bit confused by the guidelines in Wikipedia help regarding a connected contributor. For example, I (dreeser) am a parent of some alumni of the school (most recent graduated in 2006) and for some years was on the board of a foundation that financially supported the school. I did the article without the permission of any employee or school board member - it was purely voluntary. I then edited for a number of years until I turned it over to Ms HCACommunications. Am I a "connected contributor". I receive no material benefit - I have no financial connections (except for donating to the school from time to time). But I do like the school and want to see it succeed. As part of that desire, I wanted to write a factual article according the the WikiProject Schools guidelines.

So, what if the school recruits another volunteer and the volunteer is asked to keep the factual content up to date. On their own initiative, they can notice that a change has occurred, for example when Dr. Stacy Loyd was hired to replace Patricia Hahn, and update the article to correspond to the change. Would that be sufficient to eliminate concerns about potential COI?

Help me out here... My intention is to provide a way for the factual content to be updated when changes occur of the sort mentioned above.

Since I am the initial creator of this page, I intend to remove the tag in 30 days unless Theroadislong posts on this talk page reasons why it should stay and what needs to be fixed. Dreeser (talk) 04:00, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia only reports on what the reliable secondary sources say about a subject, if you have a conflict of interest you should suggest changes on the talk page and not directly edit the article.Theroadislong (talk) 18:11, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
