No. 164 Squadron Argentine British by no means was crewed mainly by Argentines of British ancestry[edit]

That's a modern misunderstanding. IT WAS A DONATION SQUADRON PRESENTED BY THE BRITISH COMMUNITY OF ARGENTINA, that's true, but over 90% of its pilots had nothing to do with Argentina. To begin with, its first and its last fatalities were from Australia; Bruce A. Shaefer (flying accident, 1942) and Desmond W. McCulloch (shot down by mistake by British AA artillery, 1945). Google: "roll of honour 164 squadron RAF Australian war memorial". The Canadian William M. Baggs (1925-2012) was pilot of 164 Sqn in 1944-1945 and for him his squadron was a multinational outfit with a majority of British. Google: "bill baggs Canada memory project 164 squadron RAF". The veterans of 164 Sqn who had died lately have been Percy Beake (Canadian-born British), Sydney C. If you have a reliable source, then contradict it. But this source[1] explicits states it was crewed mainly (my italics) by Argentine volunteers. You state six names, but how many pilots and crew rotated through the squadron during its Second World war campaign? The joy of all things (talk) 12:22, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I give you the list of ALL the Argentines who flew with 164 Squadron: Ronnie Sheward in 1942-1943(eventually Squadron Leader of 266 SquadronRhodesia)(did he become an African in 266 Squadron?), David B. Bridger (killed in flying accident in August 1942, THE ONLY ARGENTINE LOSS IN 164 SQUADRON), Herbert A. Brownrigg in 1944 (posted to 183 SquadronGold Coast) (did he become an African when posted to 183 Squadron?) and Frederick A. Greene in 1944. Bill Baggs, Canadian, pilot with 164 Squadron in 1944-45 ("http://www.thememoryproject.com/stories/654:bill-mitchelll-baggs/"): The 164 Squadron was unique in that it was called the Argentine-British [RAF] squadron. And all squadrons had cities or counties or countries that supported them and from those areas, they'd send gifts and supplies and that sort of thing [...] And the squadron was composed of just about every allied nationality. The nucleus would be fellows from the UK. We had Belgian, Frenchmen, Poles, South African, Rhodesians, myself a Canadian, an American. [Note: Baggs forgot the New Zealanders -George R. Trafford, one of the squadron's veterans, was killed in action in August 1944, and Squadron Leader Ian D. Waddy was shot down and captured in Augsut too-, and the unlucky Australians, with 4 losses with 164 Squadron in 1942-1945, including Alfred E.
