Can anyone explain, where did the "Fitzalan" part come from? From Fitzalan Chapel? And for what? Just to make the surname outstanding? СЛУЖБА (talk) 05:53, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pepper and Potatoes[edit]

According to Antonia Fraser's book on Catholic Emancipation which I've just been reading, this fellow - at least I think it's him, the son of Duke Bernard - once allegedly said that poor people should be made to eat curry, and thereafter acquired the nickname "Pepper and Potatoes". I'll leave it to somebody else to add this.

AF likens the nickname to Marie Antoinette supposedly saying "Let Them Eat Cake". Paulturtle (talk) 07:04, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
