Comment[edit]

According to at least one source, Grimes' first recording since emerging from retirement was Nile River Suite by Dennis González (recorded November 2003 and released in 2004). I've updated this article and cited a source. I'm not actually positive this one was first, but it and others would seem to precede the Ribot album by a year or two. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 21:38, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Grimes completely disappeared from the music scene in 1965." It had to be later than November 1966, when he appeared on Pharoah Sanders' Tauhid (according to that album's liner notes). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 04:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

An item needs clarification. The discography indicates that Grimes appears on Debut Rarities, vol. 3 by Shafi Hadi. However, Debut Rarities, vol. 3 is credited to Charles Mingus. If this is a Mingus recording then this is presumably a work (as described in the article) on which Mingus used two bassists and the other was Grimes. Or perhaps this album is actually a compilation, on which Grimes plays on a track led by Shafi Hadi? I don't have the album, myself, to check. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 01:19, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This album is also listed (as "with Henry Grimes") in the Shafi Hadi article's discography. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 02:34, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
According to Allmusic, Debut Rarities Vol. 3 (although released as a Mingus album) was performed by the Shafi Hadi Sextet. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 05:11, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
