Promotion from Brig. Gen. to Maj. Gen.[edit]

Wise was never promoted to Major General, as Lee had no authority to appoint general officers. He only appointed him a division commander, succeeding General Bushrod Johnson, as the ranking Brigadier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.246.237.154 (talk) 20:12, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Henry A. Wise[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Henry A. Wise's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Henry A. Wise → Henry A. Wise (governor) – Disambiguation. Note that there is also Henry A. Wise (New York state senator), which is the topic of another current RM discussion at Talk:Arthur Brown (Utah senator), and Henry Augustus Wise. When there is a big difference in notability, I think the practice is to just disambiguate the less notable entry. The state senator seems very obscure to me, and very much more local in interest. Admittedly the governor has faded somewhat into history, but still I think is probably more notable outside New York, and maybe even most places in New York. So I would not favor the move. Confederate Constitution[edit]

I added information on the Confederate Constitution in Wise's post-war statement while he was on parole. It was just meant to add perspective to Wise's statement. I thought it made the article more neutral. Nothing is said or implied against Wise. Feel free to comment. It is only a few sentences. I also added a reliable source. Thanks.
