POW History of Generalmajor Kreipe[edit]

I found a link which I added to the reference portion of this biography. If the information is factual, it indicates GM Kreipe was held in a special camp in Bridgend, South Wales after his return from an unidentified camp near Calagary, Canada. Zendell (talk) 14:22, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This SOB should have been executed for war crimes. Why wasn't he? Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 18:00, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The net for war criminals was very broad after WW2 but they didn't see him as one. Maybe that means something. There may also be a clue in the German Wikipedia which says, "The superiors judged Kreipe as a strong, energetic personality of a firm character. The attitude of Kreipes to national socialism, unlike other soldiers, is not mentioned in his assessments. Employees of the CSDIC intelligence service in Trent Park considered Kreipe an unimportant and unimaginative opponent of the Nazi regime with a weak character." Consequences[edit]

What were the consequences of his kidnapping? What did he do for work after the war? Did he have a family? Rklawton (talk) 20:53, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

German Wikipedia says he lived with his wife, Ilse, in Hannover after the war. I suspect he just retired and "enjoyed his golden years." It also states he didn't speak much about what happened in Crete, although he did do the television interview in 1972, as already mentioned. CsikosLo (talk) 12:04, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
