Concept[edit]

Well, if the format works for some --or, who knows, many-- folks, far be it from me to criticize or diminish. But I wonder if it really does. And speaking personally, I get a migraine just from cracking open any of the series and letting my eyes fall ever so briefly upon a random page. Sensory overload is the technical term, I think. Yeah, I guess I'm old school. When I started programming in the 70's, we used to gobble up "drab" IBM manuals and books written in that selfsame honorably simple style -- the stuff that our newer, more "enlightened" generation wouldn't know what to do with if their life depended on it. We didn't need Hollywood or its stars or retro hip or slick gimmicks to draw our attention to information sources, or to keep our attention on them. Yeah, it's a different world now, and not necessarily a better one, overall. Toddcs (talk) 21:01, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
