Cancellation/abandonment[edit]

As the creator of this article (but not the owner!) you may wonder, as I do, what happened to the project exactly! The answer is that I don't know!! I've searched many references and it just seemed to fizzle out, no indication of cancellation or anything else. If anyone knows then please add it (remembering to cite your reliable sources), cheers. By the end of 1972 HS had started pushing the HS.146 design instead so it did not last long as an idea. MilborneOne (talk) 00:24, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just as an aside the HS.142 appears to be what became the A300B and they also had a HS.147 fan-lift design study according to [1] It also mention a stol high wing 100/130 seater with RB.210s which sounds like an early 146. MilborneOne (talk) 00:34, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No answer as yet but the 146 taking over sounds likely. In the same reference that this came from are details of the other 'HS' projects, not enough for their own articles but I could put them in the Hawker Siddeley article somewhere and possibly create redirects to that section. Reading through the Times of the period expected launch money for the 141 is mentioned but then by the end of 72 they are asking for money for the 146. Lot going on in that time with the RB.211 and the BAC 3-11 all asking for large sums of money in the end the government invested in the engine to save RR. Sounds good to me, we need to try and put that all together to give some sort of ending to this article! Still need something more definite though. I searched the Flight archives and couldn't find anything on its demise. I would imagine the two engine projects suffered the same fate, will write articles on them in time.
