Citydata discrepancies[edit]

Here's what the US Census page says about this township. This isn't the first one I've found that differs from the city-data page. I'm not sure how to proceed, but I'm starting to have doubts about the City-data.com data. It's getting late so I'll deal with this one later. --Dual Freq 05:59, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Area (Land) (square meters) 149,575,190
  • Area (Water) (square meters) 3,384,040
  • Area Name-Legal/Statistical Area Description (LSAD) Term-Part Indicator Havana township
  • Functional Status Code A
  • Geographic Change User Note Indicator N
  • Population Count (100%) 5,303
  • Housing Count (100%) 2,308
  • Internal Point (Latitude) +40290211
  • Internal Point (Longitude) -090042537
  • Legal/Statistical Area Description Code 44

The lat and long are listed by US Census as decimal degrees, but without the period after the 40 and the 090. I'm sure it will differ form the GNIS number, because there are several listed in GNIS. I think The Census bureau lists the approx center (I have no idea right now how they pick the location), and GNIS lists where the words on the topo map are written. If the township is in different maps it will be listed more than once. Anyway, as far as dot placement it's probably no big deal. --Dual Freq 05:59, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Those are some pretty big numbers difference. Boy, it will really suck having to go back over those hundreds of pages to change the numbers. I am sure it is only a small percentage that is wrong, but still, I hate putting the wrong info out there. This is something I will have to deal with in the morning.--Kranar drogin 06:08, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
