Under the entry for Hastings, Michigan, I attempted to add an item under the Arts and Culture heading for the Thornapple Jazz Festival, which has been in existence since 2003 in Hastings. My first entry was removed, I think, for lack of adequate sources, which I understand. I added a second time with additional sources, and it was removed. This time the editor asked me to demonstrate that it had been noticed elsewhere. He used the term "we don't write settlement articles," which I'm entirely unfamiliar with.

My motivation isn't to publicize. (I didn't include specific dates or a mention of future festivals) It happens to be a major annual event in the community, so it's part of the fabric of the community.

I can demonstrate that the festival has received arts grants from regional and statewide agencies. I can demonstrate that some prominent guest artists have come from elsewhere as headliners. I can show it appearing in calendars of events for legitimate news and tourism publications over many years. Beyond that, I'm not sure what the editors are looking for.

I'll add that the one event that is listed under "Arts and Culture" is a bike race. I've no objection to it being on Wikipedia. But a bike race is neither arts nor culture.
