Mr Patrik Mulvey. Janitor of Harthill Public School. A strict and smartly dressed janitor with a reputation of being stricter than many teachers. He would lock the school gate at 9am prompt and later escort latecomers to the headmaster's room to receive four strokes of the tawse. He was also noted for keeping the tidy playground clean of litter despoils.

Robert Dewar and family, 3 daughters Grace, Lizzie and Jessie. Circa 1888. Manager of Muirhead and Polkemmet pits. Lived in Albert Cottage, a two-storey cottage with the luxury of inside toilet and bathroom.

Thomas McLung. 1892. Manager of West Benhar Co-op.
Councillor Johnnie Breslin. Owner of the Athletic Bar (later, Sports bar). A plaque to his memory can still be seen in the Community centre.
Dr George, as he was known because his Sir name was difficult to pronounce, was a Polish born GP resident in Harthill who lived in Craigview House (East Main Street). His brother was a prominent Politician in Poland who later became the Polish President.
Dr Sydney McLaughlan. A popular local GP who held surgery in his house on the Main Street. The attractive two story Victorian villa still stands as a private residence. A road in a new private housing development off the West Craig Road is named in his memory.
Alex Shanks. Owner of the Harthill Chemist and Dispensary for many years. The shop was the building occupied by the Harthill Post Office before its closure too.
Joe Hogan. Lived in Beechwood House, Greenrigg. Son of the Hogan family. Played for Partick Thistle up to 1956 after transferring from Newtongrange Star.
Iain Grant, a famous Canadian Broadcaster, now with CFRB radio in Toronto, grew up in Greenrigg in the early 1970s before emigrating to Canada.
