Treasury career[edit]

Regarding recent changes made to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Wilson_(businessman)#Public_career

Why would Wilson be listed as working under President Bush's auto task for in 2009 when the President was Obama? Even the descriptor on note 4 points out this fact. This change was made on Oct 16th by user Bearian, both an attorney and a professor.

These changes look like vandalism to me, please review your and existing sources before making changes. It looks like from the talk page someone else attempt to correct this and were themselves accused of vandalism.

To quote the NY Times( http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/20/business/20wilson.html ): "Mr. Wilson can claim both financial expertise (he essentially retired in his 30s) and apparent success in his recent entry to public service. As one of the top officials on President Obama’s automotive task force, he helped take General Motors into bankruptcy and bring it out rapidly as part of a sweeping industry overhaul."

Seems rather obvious which presidency he served under. Please refrain from vandalising political pages.

The problem is one of verifiability and logic in a BLP. Just because he's on Obama's task force does not mean he was appointed by Obama. I'll work more on it. It is certainly not vandalism. Please assume good faith. Bearian (talk) 21:45, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I looked at all the citations available online, including those linked here and in the article, which took me over half an hour. All I can verify is that he advised Geitner. But Bloomberg, the Twin Cities' Herald-Leader, and the New York Times all repeat the claim that he worked for Obama. None cite who appointed him, and the United States Senate never had to confirm his nomination. So it stays in as is. Bearian (talk) 21:54, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

None of the page versions, as far as I can tell from the history, have ever said he was appointed by either President. The page was changed to read that he served under Bush's auto industry task force, which we know to be impossible given that her started in March of 2009. The page was then changed to correctly read that he served under Obama's auto industry task force, which was labaled as vandilism.

I am simply pointing this out, anyone who looks at the history of changes for this page can see this. I'm not sure where appointed by has ever come into play regarding this entry, as the page has always read that he had served under one president or the other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.20.12.206 (talk) 14:46, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

request edit[edit]

Harry Wilson is asking for a few changes to his Wikipedia page.

1. In the first sentence of the lead paragraph, change "restructuring" to "turnaround". This is a more accurate description for the work he does and how it is recognized in his industry.

2. In the same sentence, remove "in several high positions in the Obama U.S. Treasury Department". This statement is vague and general.

3. Also in the opening sentence, revise “on President Barack Obama's Auto Industry Task Force” to "on the 2009 Auto Industry Task Force." This is more accurate and specific versus the previous statement.

4. Please add this sentence at the end of the second paragraph in the opening section: "Wilson had the closest showing for a New York statewide Republican campaign since 2002."[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taxpayersforwilson (talkcontribs)

These changes have been made and the dialogue box has been closed. The part about the election loss being close is not appropriate as a lead item but was added to the section discussing that election. Go4thProsper (talk) 21:12, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reads like a publicity statement.[edit]

I’m no expert at editing, just wanted to potentially bring it to people’s attention that imo it doesn’t feel very neutral to read this, more pro-Wilson. 108.54.114.216 (talk) 03:56, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Several concerns have been raised about this article along these lines. It does not appear that very many of the recommended improvements have been made. Has any action been taken on the suggestions that were made to improve the article and tone down the WP:Puffery and PR-type content and style? Go4thProsper (talk) 23:00, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
