Minor clean-up...[edit]

I haven't read this particular segment of Marvel history, but I've tried to make this entry conform a little more closely to the form of other comic book characters profiled on wikipedia. A few questions, if anyone happens by who knows more:

1. In what issue did this chap first appear? That seems to be fairly standard info for the introduction at the top of characters' pages. Do we know which writer created him?

2. "This lead to fan speculation that Gambit was related to Harpoon, or the character itself was derived or inspired by Harpoon." I don't understand the import of this sentence...they thought Gambit was inspired by Harpoon? The Marauders page says Gambit started the Marauders at Mister Sinister's request, so I would have supposed Gambit to predate Harpoon.

3. Finally, there's a section here that seems a bit too speculative for wikipedia: "It is also possible that Harpoon can actually produce the spears himself, similar to his fellow Marauder Riptide's ability to produce throwing stars and spikes. While Harpoon wears a pack on his back to hold his spears, the supply would be depleted quickly given the amount of time the Morlock Massacre endured. Since Mister Sinister holds the keys to the Marauders' DNA, he could theoretically share many of their abilities with one another thus giving Harpoon the ability to self produce his weapons like Riptide." The first and second sentences I might leave, since they're speculation on the nature of the character's powers, but I would think the last one, speculating on something that comics writers could do if they chose to have Mister Sinister revive the character, would be out of place on wikipedia.

The bit about Gambit helping organize the Marauders is a recent retcon; in the original Mutant Massacre Gambit was still years from his first appearance. You're quite right, the rampant speculation about the nature of Harpoon's powers doesn't belong in a Wikipedia article, I'm going to try to clear out some of the debris. -- Noclevername 05:50, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Harpoon01.jpg[edit]

Image:Harpoon01.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
