Untitled[edit]

I changed the spelling of Wyhe and Overyssel to Wijhe and Overijssel, because this is really how it should be. I can't find any historic evidence for Wyhe or Overyssel.

I deleted the (Wie) after Wijhe, this is the first name of Wijhe in 960, but has no relevance for Harmen Jansen Knickbocker 1000 years later.

I don't know where this came from "He was a native of the village of Zaltbommel, Netherlands" as there is no reference. I deleted it. Stwainer (talk) 23:37, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I removed "Although Harmen commonly added the termination van Wije to his name, indicating a possible origin of Wijhe, he also used van Bommel, indicating he came from Zaltbommel. This location is more likely the origin of Knickerbocker as the Castle Wijenburg, home of the van Wijhe family from 1272 to 1751, is located just a short distance away in Echteld. The van Wijhe termination likely indicates an earlier familial origin. " because, again, there is no reference given. Stwainer (talk) 23:43, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed "Born Harmen Jansen Van Wyhe in Schoonderwerd Netherlands. Harman spelled his name van Wye. After arriving in Albany in 1674 he purchased land in 1682 signing his name "van Wyekyback" which later became Knickerbocker by his offspring. In creating this name he there by made all Knckerbockers descendents of him. http://www.knic.com/Paul_Kn.htm http://www.knic.com/Unified/Mast_Gen/d1.htm#P5 ..."" as I don't think the reference is very authoritative in that the reference doesn't reference any thing that can be looked up. Stwainer (talk) 20:38, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I again removed "Harmen also sometimes used the surname van Bommel indicating he came from the present Zaltbommel. This is the more likely origin of Harmen as the van Wijhe family held land in Echteld just a short distance from from Zaltbommel from the twelfth century until the eighteenth century." since there is no source cited Stwainer (talk) 16:03, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I undid the latest changes due to the fact that I couldn't find the linked source documentation Stwainer (talk) 23:15, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
