Hi, I'll review this article. FunkMonk (talk) 23:02, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure, but I'm thinking a map might be better in the infobox than a photo of the man?
Agree. I moved the map to the infobox. Also, now that I've got some details about the locations of certain battles/engagements during this revolt, I think I'll request that the map be modified to include some of those battles. --Al Ameer (talk) 03:59, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Meanwhile, France claimed special interests in Syria" I think Sykes-Picot could be mentioned here.
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Revised unless you think it's an easter-egg now.
Perhaps "faced a" should be incorporated in the link, so it doesn't seem like it is just a link to the term revolt itself. FunkMonk (talk) 01:27, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "and its hinterland within the Ottoman state." But that state didn't exist by this time?
Clarified. It should've read "at the time of the Arab Revolt" rather than the "time of Faisal's establishment of a state". Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "access to Aleppo's Anatolian hinterland" I think you could link Anatolian.
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "which was predominantly Turkish" In what sense do you mean here? I see you link to Turkish people, but I assume you mean the Turkish state as well? I think it could be clarified a bit...
Revised (Turkish as in people). Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "had Turkic, Kurdish and Circassian lineage." Maybe say "where of ... descent" or some such?
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "which had been the administrative center of its own province" I'd add "under the Ottomans" or similar, and perhaps not hide the vilayet name in an easter-egg link.
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Atatürk image could need some source info or replacement.
Damn, that's too bad since the timing of the image (1921) and his military dress aptly fit into the context of the article. I'll try to locate a source for it, but will replace it if I can't find one. I'll also try to find a source for the deleted Hananu image. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Fathallah Saqqal seems to be stretched horizontally, which looks weird.
I'll try to fix that. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "called ′iṣābāt" Meaning?
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "declared the Arab Kingdom of Syria over the region of Syria in March 1920" Not sure what this means. They declared it as?
Clarified (I think). Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "sympathetic of Ottoman rule" Sympathetic to?
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "a ′iṣābā" An?
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "known as mujahidin" Give the meaning.
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • That was quick, I'll review the rest of the article later today. How's the last work going over at Tanyus Shahin, by the way? FunkMonk (talk) 21:38, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I finished with the last issue raised at the Tanyus Shahin review, but forgot to update you. I'll make a note there now. --Al Ameer (talk) 22:45, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "coincided with Turkish revolts against the French military" Anything to link to?

Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • " Hananu to decided to attack" Decided to?
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Hananu also co-founded the Arab Club in Aleppo" During the fighting?
The Arab Club Damascus branch was founded in late 1918, but it wasn't totally clear in the Gelvin source when the Aleppo branch was founded. I'll look into it. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I clarified the issue about the Arab Club. --Al Ameer (talk) 20:52, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "chief of whom was Jamil Ibrahim Pasha" Link pasha?
I don't know if I want to just link part of his name, I'll try to start an article on him, even if just a stub. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, see Jamil Ibrahim Pasha - couldn't find much biographical info about him, other than what the Khoury source provided. Al Ameer (talk) 20:52, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Armenian refugees who had fled from their villages in Turkey," You could mention why.
Revised (the source didn't specify that it was the Armenian Genocide, but that's what it implied I presume) Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • " and if the Franco-Turkish War had not ended." In extension to my earlier comment, seems weird this war is first linked all the way down here.
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "rebels known as mujahidin (fighters of holy struggle i.e. jihad)" Seems the explanation down here is now redundant.
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "or smuggled to the rebels Mauser rifles" Or smuggled Mauser rifles to the rebels?
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • " feared this autonomy would ultimately lead to its annexation by Turkey" Perhaps mention this actually happened (you only do this in the intro)?
Done, I'll add the citation later today. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Perhaps mention what happened to Hananu after these events, as he is so important to them?
  • "referred to their revolts as part of the "general national movement of Western Aleppo"." Only stated in intro.
It's mentioned in the body as "general national movement in the region of Western Aleppo". I decided to shorten it in the lead, should I add "in the region" to the lead? Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "After early rebel victories, guerrilla operations stopped after" Double after seems repetitive...
Revised. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Perhaps the years this took place could be stated in the first paragraph of the intro?
Done. Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "established a quasi-state" Only mentioned as such in intro.
  • perhaps mention in the intro that the Great Syrian Revolt followed?
Done, do you think it should be placed in a different passage in the intro? Al Ameer (talk) 17:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Changes look good, seems little is left to fix? FunkMonk (talk) 21:29, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, there's a couple more things like the "quasi-state" line and Hananu's post-revolt life. It looks like someone added a source for the Ataturk image, I'll upload a picture of Hananu later today. I found a great source about the revolt, but it's in French so I'll have to tinker with it later. Will finish the remaining issues today and/or tomorrow. --Al Ameer (talk) 21:34, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@FunkMonk: Ok, I added a picture of Hananu and added some info about his future in Syria following the revolt. The quasi-state thing is actually already mentioned in the body in the Rebel organization section: "At the height of the revolt, Hananu effectively created a quasi-independent state between Aleppo and the Mediterranean Sea." Let me know if I missed anything. --Al Ameer (talk) 20:22, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is very good with the added context for the aftermath, so will now pass! FunkMonk (talk) 00:09, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, as always it was a pleasure working with you. --Al Ameer (talk) 00:59, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
