Article should mention use of halorhodopsin or bacteriorhodopsin for photosynthesis instead of chlorophyll[edit]

Somewhere this article should mention that halobacteria use a different method of photosynthesis not based on chlorophyll. See Photosynthesis - Halobacterium. See also Archaearhodopsin and Halorhodopsin

Same for Photosynthesis. Robert Walker (talk) 12:13, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Have discovered that the article did mention it in third intro para, but I didn't think to look there - and first sentence of third intro para was about it's aerobic / anaerobic capabilities. Seems worth having a separate section on it anyway - so added a brief summary to the third intro para + separate section later in the article. Hopefully this will help other readers of the article like myself who scan the page looking for this information. Robert Walker (talk) 14:23, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Halophilic Bacteria should be a separate wiki page.[edit]

There's a differentiation that is stated at the end of the second paragraph, but both "Halobacteria" and "Halophilic Bacteria" both redirect to this wiki page. A separate wiki page for halophilic bacteria should be created. MMM038507 (talk) 19:05, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
