80 vessels in three tours[edit]

...sinking over 80 vessels of all sizes in three tours of the Sea of Marmara.

This can't be, since an E-class submarine carries only 18 torpedoes and E11 most certainly didn't risk surface battles with her guns in Turkey's backyard or placed naval mines there. Also the article lacks any references. - Alureiter 16:50, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

27 steamers + 58 smaller vessels + 1 antiquated battleship = 86 which by my calculations is "over 80". Figures from Dictionary of the First World War (Pope & Wheal). That said, Moorehead's Gallipoli says "Naismith's bag alone was 101". He also says total Turkish losses from the submarine campaign was 211 of which 148 (70%) were "sailing boats", on which I doubt you would waste a torpedo. Naismith's sinking of the Nagara was done on the surface, and that was a transport. Also, to be "driven away from the shore by some Turkish cavalry" suggests he was on the surface there too. 58.163.138.241 10:30, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
