Kozai mechanism or resonance?[edit]

I would like to move (and expand, of course) the currently sketchy Kozai mechanism to Kozai resonance as the last term is used in the papers related to trans-Neptunian objects and irregular satellites. Please let me know which term is commonly used in extrasolar planets-related papers (this article is the only one linking to the Kozai mechanism). Struve 1341HD 80606 and HD 80607 – The designation "Struve 1341" is rarely if ever used. The majority of sources refer to this system by the HD designations of the individual stars rather than the combined designation of the binary system, even in references specifically dealing with the system's binarity (e.g. [1]). Since the designations of individual components are far more commonly-used than the binary designations it therefore makes sense to follow the example of Mizar and Alcor and use the two combined. --Relisted. walk victor falk talk 00:23, 24 May 2014 (UTC) --Relisted. • Oppose Struve Catalogue of Double Stars designations are frequently used in papers dealing with parallax determination, including the observation data from Romanoff Pulkowo Observatory. As for Mizar and Alcor, that is the traditional treatment of that pairing, whereas the proposed name is a pair of stars, while the current designation is for the double star pairing. "Σ1341" and "Struve 1341", usually Struve designations would use Sigma in print. -- 65.94.171.206 (talk) 10:47, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • My assertion is based on a sampling of the SIMBAD list of papers pertaining to this system. The Struve/Σ designation is typically unused, probably because parallax determination is not the main reason these stars are studied. (Same goes for all the references in this article in fact). I see no reason to use a designation that is hardly ever used in references to this system. 77.57.25.250 (talk) 11:16, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support; we should follow WP:NCASTRO in most cases, and this is no exception. Nominator's rationale is very convincing. StringTheory11 (t • c) 14:37, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
