Band Template

I'm wondering if I should remake the band template not that it is bad but use the same style of the band Korn, I think that the style is cool and considering GNR has so much to list it would be cool. Give me your thoughts on my talk page please. Skeeker 08:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:F41185oatx1.jpg

Image:F41185oatx1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:22, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Slash's birthplace

I think you will find that Slash from guns n roses was actually born in Stoke on Trent not Hampshire as the article states! Google it?

There's no Slash in Guns N' Roses. Bucketheader 15:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Heavy Metal

Couldn't Heavy Metal be added as a second genre behind Hard Rock I mean they been featured in many metal progams on VH1 such as Heavy The Story Of Metal and "Welcome To The Jungle" was # 2 on 40 Greatest metal songs and 100 most metal moments as well as mention metal as a secondary gerne by many other sources. I know there not the heavist band in the world but i think it should be added as a second genre.TG 50 20:49, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Axl Rose, aswell as other former members of the band, has stated numerous times, especially in the 80s, that GN'R is a rock band and not metal. Being a hard rock band, they are often mislabeled as metal because of the similarities of each genre. GN'R has a strong heavy metal influence, which is another reason why they are often mislabeled as metal, but they are also equally influenced by blues and punk, and they're clearly not either of those genres. All Music Guide says hard rock, heavy metal and "album rock": [1]. Sebi [talk] 07:28, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes it says. So that means that heavy metal needs to be in the genre. User:JNCooper

Awards and legacy section

The 2nd or 3rd paragraph of the Legacy section in the article lists 3 or 4 awards already listed in the Awards section further down. Should the legacy part on awards be merged into the Awards section? Suggestions welcome. Sebi [talk] 07:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

90 million albums claim

Got rid of how they sold over 90 million, cite this source and THEN we can include it Pie76 07:36, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm Googling some sources: [2]; which seems to be a copy of an earlier version of this Wikipedia article. [3]; which can be edited by anyone with an account on the website, which makes it unreliable. Sebi [talk] 08:07, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Let's contact Geffen! Look dude I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of Guns N Roses so don't think I am out to get them or anything..but 90 million? THat does not even add up..Their debut album sold over 20 million copies...That would mean that their other albums would have to sell like...lol well you do the math, you yourself knows that's crazy. Pie76 10:25, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I suppose, but, I wonder how long it has been in there, and how many people have we mislead by leaving it in... oh well, it's gone now. Sebi [talk] 10:28, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Around 90 million is accurate, but I can't find a source. In Best selling music artists, this [4] is being used as a reference, but is this reliable? Bucketheader 14:57, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
I got a source here it is, http://www.rykodistribution.com/artist_title.php?artist_id12442&media_id=18847 Skeeker [Talk] 23:23, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Look at this google search – look at the top 3 search results:
  • "Having sold an estimated 90 million albums worldwide, they are considered one of America's most successful hard rock bands today."
  • "Having sold an estimated 90 million albums worldwide, they are one of USA's most successful hard rock bands."
  • "Having sold an estimated 90 million albums worldwide, they are one of America's most successful hard rock bands." Sebi [talk] 23:29, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Definitely reliable, Bucketheader. Nowhere in that article does it have the cliché "Having sold an estimated 90 million albums worldwide". And the RIAA source looks good too. Sebi [talk] 23:32, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Magazine covers under Legacy

I added an image to the Legacy section of the article, however, I can't seem to think of an image caption that is appropriate for it. If someone could help me out there, it'd be great, as image captions are #3 on the FA criteria. Sebi [talk] 04:44, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
