Please do not just delete this page[edit]

If you do not feel that this is an actual up coming game feel free to add some sources that support that. If you do not like how the page is written feel free to change the parts you don't like. This is a wiki, after all. Joey Skywalker (talk) 04:54, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guitar Hero: Smash Hits[edit]

I noticed that GameFAQs changed the game's name today to Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. GameStop's website also has the different title. I'm not sure if these are accurate enough sources, so I'm hesitant to move the page. Can I get some opinions here? Zeldafanjtl (talk) 23:54, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gamespot also confirms the title change but only as their page for it is different. We need a source to assure that this is a true change. --MASEM (t) 00:38, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Gamefly updated it to. They even have a boxart http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/136830e.jpg. Heres the page for it http://www.gamefly.com/products/detail.asp?pid=136830.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 16:00, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you switch the end of the URL http://smashhits.guitarhero.com/index_en_US.html, to index_en_UK.html the name of the game switches to "Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits", so I supose the game is called "Guitar Hero: Smash Hits" in North America and "Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits" in Europe.

i guess i'll note it.. Estemshorn (talk) 01:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't good enough to be used to source that. If it shows up on vendor sites as that, there's probably something, but I don't see anything else to suggest that it's only "Greatest Hits" in Europe. --MASEM (t) 01:08, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
okay, i'll look around. if i find anything i'll post it here Estemshorn (talk) 01:19, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now that it's released, I can confirm that in Australia at least they're calling it "Smash Hits" 220.253.60.199 (talk) 08:37, 27 June 2009 (UTC)death_au[reply]

A Redirection Request[edit]

So far all the Guitar Hero games just have it where you put in the initials. Like GH for the series, GHWT for Guitar Hero World Tour, GH3 for Guitar Hero 3, ect. However when I put in GHSH for this one it goes to a page about a person. I'd like it if someone could make it where GHSH redirects to this page.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 16:46, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I see someone did it. Thanks.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 00:39, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I updated the setlist[edit]

A trailer was revealed recently that revealed four new songs. I put the four on the setlist on this site. If anyone would like to put up a reference the source is http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=55491373 . --67.34.181.210 (talk) 19:33, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I spotted a PR announcement dated today that confirmed these. Thanks. --MASEM (t) 19:46, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Odd mix thing?[edit]

Somebody fused the setlist, references, external links, and Guitar Hero Series box together...can someone fix it?--67.34.181.210 (talk) 20:10, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok turns out someone didn't see Free Bird already listed so they added it in but didn't put the table ending so it fused with the others. I fixed it.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 23:08, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ozzy, Sting, Tom Morello[edit]

In the article it says that they are using the "original characters". Does that mean there will be no Ozzy for Bark at the Moon, or Sting for Message In A Bottle, or Tom Morello for Killing in the Name? I think these characters would make a great addition to the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Riffrider (talkcontribs) 15:32, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's what they have stated, yes. No guest stars. --MASEM (t) 16:57, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's a shame, but at least they're all remastered. Riffrider (talk) Riffrider —Preceding undated comment added 19:02, 12 April 2009 (UTC).[reply]

i think that they should have those charecters for those songs only —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.190.75.129 (talk) 04:58, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You forgot Brett Micheals for "Nothin' But a Good Time". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Guitar Hero: Mario Mix (talkcontribs) 02:27, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GH Aerosmith Back in the Saddle —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.210.132.134 (talk) 05:41, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We can't use rumors, plus the fact that GH: Aerosmith has not been mentioned as tied with the game. --MASEM (t) 05:48, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's why I put it here instead of the article.  :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.210.132.134 (talk) 05:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wish we could post rumors cuz this really does seem like the real list.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 20:23, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This seems mostly unreliable, more or less a wish list since GH: Aerosmith is NOT in this game, as well as the fact that the master for Cult Of Personality is destroyed/lost. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.186.157.235 (talk) 01:25, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
List was leaked by a playtester before the GH tracks were officially announced, and had every one of them right. Once the next round of tracks are announced, maybe then we can better determine just how unreliable it is. 68.229.226.53 (talk) 06:21, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Even if it is completely right, it's not going to be added until we get an official source Estemshorn (talk) 20:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Free Bird Live[edit]

http://smashhits.guitarhero.com/index_en_US.html Click View next to Guitar Hero II to see the list of GH2 songs that might be in the game. It says Freebird LIVE and since we already know Freebird is in the game that means that it'll be a live version.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 20:23, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's not confirmation. Yes, 99% that you're likely right, but we can't infer that if its listed there "live" that it will be on the game "live". All official press info presently does not say that. --MASEM (t) 20:30, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Then Freebird shouldn't be on at all. Because just the word Freebird itself was in the reveal trailer. But a later source now is coming around saying Freebird Live. So until this issue is resolved I say that Freebird just be removed from the list.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 20:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Activision has announced Free Bird in their official press release for the game, and it's listed in the video that's played on the website (but only as "Free Bird", no "Live" moniker). It's legitimately there, we just cannot fairly assert it as a live version. --MASEM (t) 20:56, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah but if a later source comes out that discredits it shouldn't we change it? Like in GHWT when we found out the Smashing Pumpkins song was Today not BWBW. In any case I'm having the admin of GoNintendo contact Red Octane.--67.34.181.210 (talk) 21:16, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tuesday's Gone on Metallica wasn't live, so it's not completely definite that this will be. 71.235.9.253 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:29, 5 May 2009 (UTC).[reply]

That isn't even a little relevant. Dfsghjkgfhdg (talk) 22:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And besides, Sweet Home Alabama was a live version in Guitar Hero World Tour. Zeldafanjtl (talk) 09:01, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I Wanna Rock[edit]

will "I Wanna Rock" be the version on rocks the 80's or the original version?

it has been announced that all tracks will be master recordings, and I wanna rock on 80's was a master, but if a part of it without guitar was cut and has drums or vocals it will be added as announced, but if the part is somthing else than i dont know. 70.193.239.125 (talk) 01:01, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The version on Rocks the 80s was a rerecorded version by Twisted Sister. Hes asking if it will be the rerecorded version or the original version actually from the 80s. MiTfan3 (talk) 02:20, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Entire Setlist has been revealed[edit]

There will be one track from the Aerosmith game. Here is the link to all 48 official track http://wii.ign.com/articles/979/979817p1.html --stanmarsh2003

Venue List incorrect?[edit]

Playing the game for the Wii, and the venues listed do not match what's in career mode (for example, Killer Queen is the encore for the Amazon Rainforest). Don't know if the list is for Quickplay mode, or possibly another platform? ChrTh (talk) 01:15, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Which career mode did you play? The list is for full band mode. If you're playing a solo mode (drums only, guitar only, bass only, or vocals only), the list is going to be different. For example, Killer Queen for guitar is gonna be in the Amazon Rain Forest, while vocals would be in Atlantis. —MarsJenkar (talk | contribs) 13:35, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I used the PS3 version, and Killer Queen is the Amazon Rainforest Encore for solo guitar mode. I'm pretty sure that's the mode you're on, unless there are different tiers on the Wii then on the PS3 or Xbox. 70.29.11.191 (talk) 23:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Setlists are probably the same. I have the Wii version, and the band setlist matches the one here. —MarsJenkar (talk | contribs) 13:35, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I must've been using Solo Guitar mode at the time. Thanks ChrTh (talk) 02:40, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someones vandalised the setlist[edit]

They now have "hilarious" alternative names —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.227.225 (talk) 09:37, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Those who pre-order the game at Game Crazy stores in America will receive exclusive cheat codes. "[edit]

Is there a source for this? I preordered my copy at Game Crazy and they didn't say anything about this. Zeldafanjtl (talk) 16:59, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this called Smash Hits?[edit]

Population of US 300m, population of Europe 731m. The game should be called Greatest Hits, with a note that in North America it is called Smash Hits, not the other way around. Darrenhusted (talk) 13:15, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The game was developed in North America, and released first there. Without other evidence (likely sales figures, not potential sales), there's no need to change the name at this time. --MASEM (t) 13:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, Beenox is Canadian , but still, same side of the pond, same logic applies. --MASEM (t) 13:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Setlist[edit]

Shouldn't the setlist have it's own page like every other game in the series? 96.243.250.120 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:22, 15 July 2009 (UTC).[reply]

As there will be no DLC for this game, and that the article content is short enough to contain it, there's no need to split it out. --MASEM (t) 03:44, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Then why not add the setlist's of GH, GH80's, and GH:M since none of them have DLC either? 96.243.250.120 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC).[reply]
For both GH and GH:M there are appreciable sections on the article for development to give it space. However, there has been some discussion of moving the 80s list into the article. Most of this is based on maintaining the Featured Topic status for Guitar Hero, and it's noted that some changed to Featured content approaches would potentially require the lists for less important games to be moved into their articles, but there's no push now to fix old ones, but definitely on new ones moving forward. --MASEM (t) 13:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:Guitar Hero Smash Hits/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Everything looks good, but there is just one prose issue that could be addressed. I really think those the Reception section could be chopped into three smaller paragraphs, as paragraphs that are too long tend to turn readers away. I'll put on hold until that small thing gets addressed. MuZemike 21:43, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've split out the second para into two, with the third focusing strictly on the note tracks (since reviewers were able to compare and contrast these to the previous games). --MASEM (t) 22:05, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. Passed. Nice job. MuZemike 22:10, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
