Do we really need this page?[edit]

Do we really need this page? It will take forever to all of Sony's PS1 and PS2 Greatest Hits games. Is there a "List of Microsoft Platinum Hits games" page or a "List of Nintendo Players' Choice games" page? No. It seems at least more than half of the games released on the PS2 eventually become Greatest Hits games. It took less than a year for games like Burnout 3, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Jak II to become Greatest Hits games, and with the arrival of the next generation of systems, this is sure to be a never-ending list. Category:PlayStation 2 games is different, first, because it's a category and second because it actually serves a purpose, telling us what games there are the PS2. -Hyad 07:58, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Given the precedents of the Platinum range and Player's Choice articles, maybe this article should simply be renamed to something like Sony Greatest Hits, cover an overview of what it is, and provide a short list of examples. Better categorization?[edit]

I'm not liking how the Sony systems are splited by letters. Why don't we just make the PlayStation, PS2, and the PSP all seperate lists on here but still maintain ABC order? I know the Nintendo Player's Choice article is constructed just like this. I'll probably do some editing with the lists on my test page and see what looks and works better. This list is not "necessary" in the literal sense of the word, however it most-surely should stay, as it can very helpful to video game re-sellers. By utilizing this list, sellers can determine what games had a "greatest hits" printing and therefore make an informed decision regarding when it may be appropriate to include the term "black label" in the description of a game they are selling which does not have a "greatest hits" label. This knowlegde can help the seller avoiod sounding "gimmicky" by using the black label as a selling point on a game that never even had a "greatest hits" release. It can also provide a "selling point" for a vendor who's product has a black label and who is competing against other vendors who may be selling "greatest hits" versions of said game. This is based on the widely-accepted idea that most gamers prefer the original "black label" print-run of Playatation 2 games to the "greatest hits" counterpart. PSP Greatest Hits List[edit]

If y'all don't mind, I made a list of Greatest Hits titles specifically for the PSP and put them over here, so I will delete the list here. The reason why is that I feel it is too cluttered together and it shouldn't be. Also, some user deleted my PSP Greatest Hits List before, so i'm just making sure that it's okay to my fellow Wikipedians before doing any edits.--Ideal4real 02:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw an Ad for WalMart on 10-30-06 that had BLACK and SOCOM 3 listed as Greatest Hits. Can anyone confirm?

I was wondering if any one knows if the PSP greatest hits is acurate.Ex, Daxter(a PSP game) is listed GH on the list but is in full price at a major retail store (Best Buy, Target, Wal mart) and It has been out for near 12 months. Dro Boy Feb 22, 2007

PS3 Greatest Hits[edit]

I'm not sure the criteria here is totally accurate for the PS3 greatest hits titles, that or it should be noted that the Greatest Hits catalog is only updated sporadically. For example, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction has sold well over a million copies and has been out for 15 months now, yet it still hasn't been released as a GH title. Disgaea 3[edit]

Disgaea 3 for PlayStation 3 is not a Greatest Hits title. It is, however, a PlayStation the Best title, and is missing from that page, so I'm assuming it was just left over when someone branched that off into it's own page. PS4 Playstation Hits[edit]

There should probably be a discussion about what this page is trying to do as content keeps flipping with no sources. Is it games listen on PSN as Playstation Hits? Because that would include the Dragonball games but would exclude EA UFC 2. Playstation hits regardless of region? Yakuza 6 makes the cut then. Games from an official Sony announcement? Friday the 13th and Mad Max make the list even though they don't seem to exist. Meanwhile Lego Worlds is not.

Perhaps there should be a table with the variations.

Using that page as a source Drive Club should not be listed but it exists as a NA PS Hit. The same is true for Dying Light, EA UFC3, LEGO Jurasic World, LEGO Marvel Avengers, Need For Speed Payback, Project Cars, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Terraria. Again it goes back to the definition, your definition is games listed as such on the PSN store whereas the other edits are from people who are listing physical releases. Reading the introductory section suggests this page is meant to represent the physical games though that is likely because at the time of the article's creation that was all there was. It might be reasonable to have a table with Physical/Digital/various region columns. I'm not sure it makes sense for NA PS Hits to be on the Greatest Hits page and EU PS Hits to be on the PS Essentials page. I definitely think it should list both physical and digital, and that it should be better sourced. I don't have the time to do it though, cause even just looking into it briefly it seems like there's very little coverage of a lot of these releases. I don't know why all of those games aren't on the PS Store list, or why some of the ones on the PS Store don't have physical versions. I wish Sony had a more definitive list of these, but oh well. I only started editing this page cause I noticed some games that are on the PS Store list got removed, but hopefully someone with more time on their hands can find some proper sources for this stuff and make the physical/digital distinction more clear.
