Revisiting capitals in title[edit]

I think it is important we reach consensus before doing anything but I do need to raise this issue again. If we look at MML - Midland Main Line or West Coast Main Line or East Coast Main Line or even Great Central Main Line they are all capitalized. Even Bonnie Scotland has Highland Main Line in capitals. This article does not. I strongly feel we need consistency but at the same time we need consensus. What says ya'alls ? GRALISTAIR (talk) 20:34, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I say GWML is a proper noun, as are most lines. -mattbuck (Talk) 18:34, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Geof Sheppard (talk) 17:45, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Consistency is probably best way to go, especially when they are used in the same article. I would capitalise. Keith D (talk) 20:38, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

When and who makes the decision that consensus has been reached? GRALISTAIR (talk) 17:44, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are we any nearer? GRALISTAIR (talk) 10:44, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no formal move proposition via WP:RM or any notification to Wikipedia:WikiProject UK Railways so may never get formally closed. Keith D (talk) 22:45, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved. I've also moved 21st-century modernisation of the Great Western main line for consistency and requested a speedy move of Category:Great Western main line. (closed by non-admin page mover) Lennart97 (talk) 10:33, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Great Western main lineGreat Western Main Line – In line with similar articles East Coast Main Line, Midland Main Line, West Coast Main Line etc. Mallaeta (talk) 06:56, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support We should apply WP:Common Sense, which would suggest that arbitrarily de-capping this line, when every similar one in the same category is capitalised makes very little sense. G-13114 (talk) 15:15, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - it's a proper noun, and proper nouns should be capitalised. This is not a descriptive-type line, where we're describing something that has no proper name, it has a proper name and that is Great Western Main Line. -mattbuck (Talk) 19:05, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Arguably this should never have been moved to lower-case in the first place, as it was always capitalised until 2017. If you look at the original move discussion further up, there were four votes for, and four against, that cannot in any way be interpreted as a consensus. G-13114 (talk) 23:07, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Mattbuck. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:10, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support It is a proper noun for a proper line. Geof Sheppard (talk) 16:22, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I like consistency GRALISTAIR (talk) 14:14, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
