What precisely is the genre of the soundtrack? I find its a bit unfulfilling to simply put the genre as 'Soundtrack'? Would it be pop? Early Q 13:49, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Simon the co-composer of Sandy is not the same as the Scott Simon linked from this page... He's one of the members of Sha Na Na (see http://www.shanana.com )

Certified Sales Numbers[edit]

The "Certified Sales Numbers" for the US on the page are listed as 16,899,000. Ref13 points to a number of 6M units total. Ref82 is a book I can't see, but the quote references "first to sell over 10,000,000 records". Ref83 shows 899,000 units. I feel like (a) someone just added these all together, but (b) also didn't recognize what *certified* meant. The *certified* number is 8,000,000 units (https://www.riaa.com/gold-platinum/?tab_active=default-award&se=grease#search_section), which is in keeping with it being 8xPlatinum (as it is 1 platinum per 1,000,000 certified units). I propose to change that to 8,000,000, change the references to point to the actual certifying body as an authoritative source, and call it a day. @DBalling: In certifications section there is a part that says "certified units/sales". Certified units part do stand at eight million/the sales part is a whole another story and you can post those sales if they are available. In some cases like this sales way surpass the certification which was certified last time in 1984 (in US still it is not automatic when it comes to certifications, labels have to request them). The three sources with sales bring out a bigger picture beyond that last certification from 1984. So those eight million something do reflect data up to 1984, but then you have additional sales from Nielsen era, BMG clubs era et. Dhoffryn (talk) 12:29, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
