  • Keep - Norman Barret was a fairly influential British musician. I have many of Norman's releases from the late 70s and early 80s. I'm surprised that no article yet exists on him. --Walter Görlitz 18:35, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Gravy Train "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." from WP:MUSIC --Erik 18:40, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Gravy Train 001.JPG[edit]

Image:Gravy Train 001.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merger with 'Gravy train' article[edit]

Someone has tagged the article Gravy train to be merged into this article, but then failed to create a section here where the concept can be discussed. Specifically, they have not given their reasons for a merger.

Looking at the history of Gravy train it is clear that the article was never intented to be an article about this group, but was instead about the intellectual concept of a 'gravy train' which WordNetSearch defines as:

'S: (n) easy money, gravy train (income obtained with a minimum of effort)'

The slang term: 'gravy train', is something that deserves to have an entry in Wikipedia. Another editor attempted to [the gravy train article back to its original purpose], but their edit was reverted (leaving this duplicate article about a band - that must have taken their name from the earlier slang term).

Looking at this article, the last good edit I see was [back in July 2009]. That article was zapped by an editor who thought that idioms should not be on Wikipedia and then someone came along who thought the article should be about the band.

I'm going to revert the article way back to the last good form. I think it needs a lot of work, but the fact that there is a group called Gravy Train is proof (IMHO) that it is a large enough part of our culture that there will be examples of its usage in many interesting ways (that a project like Wiktionary just could not document).
