Wentworth grain size chart[edit]

There is a small error in the chart. In the top left, where it relates the phi conversion, it gives the equation as "phi = log2(d in mm)", when it should be "phi = -log2(d in mm)". I don't think anything should be changed, as that's the actual chart, but I wanted it noted on the talk page for clarity. LordQwert (talk) 16:40, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, that's an error from the USGS' original chart. I've made a similar note on the images' page too. One day, perhaps, it can be fixed. +mt 22:44, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Should "particle size" be in the lead as a term for this article?[edit]

In the lede sentence, "particle size" is mentioned as another name for this concept/article. Yet there is a separate article specifically on particle size and is even listed as a separate term in the Granulometry sidebar. So should that part of the intro sentence be removed as an alternate term for "grain size"? – Lestatdelc (talk) 21:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
