I've noted that this article is scheduled for deletion for non-notability very soon. I believe that this is an incorrect deletion, but I do not have time to search for other than internet resources.

Page on Gordon Smith Guitars Shop page on Gordon Smith guitars. Note that it references the USA magazine GuitarMaker. I'll see if I can hunt down that source too.

Damn! GuitaraMaker does not have an online index. I ask that this deletion be given a stay of execution while I contact the company and ask them for information about reviews and publications concerning their guitars. I have no evidence that they're the preeminant UK producer of hand made electric guitars, so unless I bump into some documentary evidence of this, I wouldn't dream of putting it in the main article. Basses & Mandolins?[edit]

The current website shows only guitars as production models - perhaps the opening sentence about the company producing basses and mandolins needs alteration? I think they've occasionally made basses in the past, but haven't heard of them producing mandolins. In any case, without supporting evidence, shouldn't the opening sentence be altered? "The British Gibson"[edit]

As noted above, the 'British Gibson' comment has been attributed to the US magazine GuitarMaker, but without details of issue/volume numbers. The magazine is published by the Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans. I've contacted them to enquire about the source of the quote and the only recorded reference to Gordon-Smith in their archives is the no. 40, the Winter 2000 issue. It seems likely, or at least possible, that this is the source of the quote, but without access to the magazine to check I can't confirm it, and they don't seem terribly enthusiastic about selling me a back-issue to check. Without the documentary evidence at hand to check, I don't think any of this can be incorporated into the article, but I thought I should post the information here in case anyone else has the ability to follow up and verify. Got it! The exact quote is "Gordon-Smith Guitars is to England as Gibson is to the United States - the longest running contemporary electric guitar company in England" and it is indeed from the issue of GuitarMaker noted above. GS up for sale?[edit]

An anon keeps adding ([1][2][3]) a claim to the article that Gordon-Smith Guitars is listed as for sale. I've removed it for now as lacking any reliable sources (the ones provided were anonymous online adverts with no provable connection to the company). In fact, being a rather exceptional claim, it should require multiple high-quality sources, but I've yet to find anything online that would back this up. Can anyone else find something? For what it's worth, I contacted Gordon-Smith, and they (specifically, Linda Smith) confirmed that they're indeed looking to sell the company. That changes nothing, though - the claim still needs reliable sources if it's to be on Wikipedia; merely being truthful is not enough. Indrek (talk) 18:28, 1 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
