Slang is not enough to be placed in an encyclopedia. I request that perenium, and all associated words be blocked from placement on this page.Thomas Gooch 02:39, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not censored for your personal comfort. Get over it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stentie (talkcontribs) 19:17, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not censored but this is a disambiguation page. Its intended purpose is to let readers know where the subject of the article, Gooch, is used throughout wikipedia. This page is not the place to introduce concepts not discussed elsewhere in wikipedia. Since this concept is not discussed anywhere else in wikipedia, it does not belong on this page. This is not censorship it is using this article for its intended purpose. A new name 2008 (talk) 01:45, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

gooch (slang)[edit]

the slang term gooch should be placed on wikipedia as it is to inform other people. if you was being called a gooch would you not like to no what it is thay are saying you are?

no offence intended

They can use urban dictionary for that.

I added the term "gooch" and saw it removed. Why? Tit, cock, and cunt are on here as slang words, why should gooch be any different? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.171.210.86 (talkcontribs) 23:15, 12 August 2011

I removed it because DAB pages are supposed to be used to disambiguate articles with the same name. They can also be used if a term is used in an article and it would be a valid search term for the article. Gooch is used nowhere in perineum. Also information must be verifiable and for that DAB pages the verification is supposed to be on the linked page. Once again this does not apply here either because there is nothing in Wikipedia to verify this information. If someone is looking for a definition of Gooch there is a link to wikitionary on the page. GB fan please review my editing 00:46, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually "gooch" is referenced in the perineum page, quoted: "A wide variety of slang terms are commonly used for this area of the human body, most commonly "gooch," "taint," "the ABC" or "Ass Ball Connection," and some others, but they generally refer to a smaller, less inclusive area -- just the surface skin region between the anus and the scrotum or vaginal opening." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.171.210.86 (talkcontribs) 08:27, 13 August 2011

I missed where it was added to that article. The problem is that the information is still not verifiable. There is no reliable source attached to that statement to verify that those are names used. GB fan please review my editing 11:17, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikitionary link[edit]

The link to the Wikitionaty link has been removed a couple of times now. This time there was at least an edit summary explaining why it was removed. The reason given is that it is not necesssary. I am at a loss as to why a link to wikitionary does not belong on the dab page for the same name, that may be why someone came to this page, to get a definition of the word. The best way to accomplish that is to have the link to wikitionary on the page. Any comments? ~~ GB fan ~~ talk 18:40, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The same editor blanked the Wiktionary entry. I think they simply object to the fact that "gooch" can refer to an intimate part of the human body. It's silly enough that that meaning is constantly removed from this page, but to remove the link to Wiktionary and blank the Wiktionary definition is simply bad-faith censorship. +Angr 20:57, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate Uses[edit]

Per WP:BRD, I am starting a discussion about an edit I just reverted.

Once again Perineum is being added to this disambiguation page. The term gooch is used nowhere on that page. The purpose of a disambiguation page is to make it easy to find articles that have similar names. Since it is not used on that page there is nothing to disambiguate, so it does not belong here. Please explain why it belongs here. ~~ GB fan ~~ talk 19:08, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because people who hear the term and don't know what it means will come here to find out. Perineum is a meaning of gooch, so it seems reasonable to include it among the meanings listed on this page, just as "testicle" is included at Ball (disambiguation) and "penis" is listed at the disambig page Cock. I know you've been defending this page against the perineum for years, but I don't think it's really all that bad an idea to include it. +Angr 20:30, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies; I added the word again just now before checking the talk, and I'll remove it after i leave this edit, since it probably deserves discussion. But--why would this word possibly not belong on this page? Gooch isn't the most common word for the perineum, but the perineum is certainly the most common meaning for "gooch," if the speaker isn't a chemist or steam locomotive enthusiast. It's the only meaning of the word I'd ever heard before arriving here. If the majority of people arriving at this disambig are here because they heard the word in its slang context--and surely there can be no argument that they are--and they are looking for the perineum explanation, then that link ought to be the first thing they see.--Mobius Soul (talk) 05:37, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So how do we comply with verfiability for this piece of information. There is nothing in the article that verifies this meaning and the way the guideline on disambiguation reads the verification does not belong in this article. GB fan (talk) 15:25, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. As far as this being a common meaning of the word, until I saw it on this page the first time I had never heard the word gooch used in this way. I have still never heard it used this way other than here or in Wikitionary and Urban dictionaries. GB fan (talk) 15:49, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have found a source, cited at Perineum, that backs up the slang meaning. One can check the definition by searching for "gooch" or "taint" at dictionary.com. If the concern was verifiability, that should be sufficient. — Ƶ§œš¹ [ãːɱ ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɪ̃ə̃nlɪ] 02:43, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So did those writers not know what that word was slang for when they named Arnold's perennial nemesis "The Gooch"? Or did it not have that meaning back in those bygone days of innocence? --The_Iconoclast (talk) 14:09, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
