Alice Liddell[edit]

This article states Golders Green holds Alice Liddell's ashes; however, Alice Liddell's article states she is buried at the church of St. Michael & All Angels, Lyndhurst. Shall I delete the reference to Liddell here. Bruiseviolet (talk) 10:57, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Alice Liddell was cremated here, her ashes were then removed to Lyndhurst. The entry is correct and should stand. I have also corrected the Alice Liddell monograph. JHvW (talk) 00:01, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Woking Crematorium[edit]

The crematorium built next to Brookwood Cemetery which was used for experimentation, is this the same facilty as, what is now known as, Woking Crematorium? Close to St John's Village near Woking. JHvW (talk) 00:20, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

English Heritage[edit]

Perhaps it should be noted in the article that English Heritage has determined that specific areas (the building, the wall, a mausolueum) of the crematorium are now listed. VC Holders[edit]

I have rephrased reference to the 14 Victoria Cross holders cremated here as the sentence as originally written implied all had a memorial or grave located here. In fact at least two are known to have had ashes removed elsewhere after cremation, one to Punjab, another to Australia. Stanley Baldwin[edit]

Despite it being stated in Find-a-Grave's website, it is disputable that he was cremated at Golders Green. His article in "The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography" (Volume 3, page 474, published 2004) states that after his death "his remains were cremated in Birmingham on 17 December [1947]" and his ashes interred, with those of his wife, at Worcester Cathedral. Birmingham is a logical location given he died at his home near Stourport, but it is not clear at which of Birmingham's existing two crematoria his cremation took place.Cloptonson (talk) 20:08, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would concur. Stanley Baldwin does not appear on the list of cremations of famous people as issued by Golders Green Crematorium. This may be an oversight on their part but it is more likely that he was not cremated at Golders Green. 77.167.212.162 (talk) 01:52, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • In view of the strong evidence on the part of the ODNB, I have now deleted the entry from this page. It would BTW would have been an extravagance at a time of fuel rationing to have his hearse travel so far from the Birmingham area for a cremation.Cloptonson (talk) 19:18, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Names withdrawn from list of those whose ashes are here[edit]

I am removing the uncited entry of "Dr Alan Corbett, psychotherapist and writer" because the name of someone matching the description does not google up as of someone having a wikipedia article. The name was wikilinked but it connects to an article on an Australian politician who is still living! It can be put back at such time there is a wikipedia article on him with a citation for being cremated here.Cloptonson (talk) 08:05, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I also withdrew Don Revie the football manager because he was in fact cremated at Warriston, Edinburgh, as his wikipedia article citedly attests, and there is no evidence his ashes are at Golders Green.Cloptonson (talk) 12:02, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
