"In 1910, twenty-one riverboats plied the Mississippi," look at a period photo of the St Louis levee; there's five times that many parked on a Sunday morning. Does it mean "showboats"? Needs a citation. 150.243.14.35 (talk) 12:52, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Colnfusing[edit]

"The boat is designed in the manner of a 19th-century showboat rather than a late 20th century one, in other words, not like a paddlewheeler steamboat." Why should a 1909 boat be deisgned lake a late 20th century one? And why does this only say how the boat does _not_ look like. Shouldn't it say immediately after that how it _does_ look like? --Anvilaquarius (talk) 16:58, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
