Forklift[edit]

A previous version of this page incorrectly asserted that the forklift accident was the cause of the two men losing their jobs. On the contrary, the accident was in fact more of a minor part of the plot, and the lack of obvious repercussions perhaps serves to underline the meaninglessness of their working life. The two men continued to work in the plant for the rest of the summer and were then laid off supposedly due to a slowdown in business. Now, a viewer could speculate that there was a connection between the accident and the two men's inclusion in a lay-off, but this is not made clear, and the fact that the characters do not seem to recognize the possibility of such a link serves to further underline the sense of meaninglessness and alienation depicted in the film.

I'm rating this as C class and increasing importance. I felt high importance was proper as there are very few movies that document Toronto in the 60s. BashBrannigan (talk) 19:04, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Grocery Store[edit]

There is a giant permanent sign on the grocery store that says LOBLAWS, so it was not a Dominion supermarket. Also, they did their shoplifting at a Sam The Record Man store, at the grocery store they staged a robbery.

Wilson's?[edit]

I haven't seen the film in ages, but, as I recall, the plant in the film is the Wilson's Ginger Ale factory. Is that correct?
Wilson's is now defunct, unfortunately, because their product used to taste a lot better than Canada Dry.

I don't know what bottling plant it was filmed in, but the description of their jobs as being at a 'ginger ale bottler' always bothered me because a scene in the bottling plant's cafeteria shows a vending machine with a variety of flavours. If the company had only made ginger ale, it stands to reason that the vending machine would only serve ginger ale; what company would put their competitors product in their cafeteria?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.5.212.157 (talk) 05:58, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
