Birth date and place[edit]

On the subject of her date / place of birth, the Allmusic website here - [1] has her details as 12 September 1938, Longview, Texas. Indeed, this is not the only source for these particulars. They vary in almost every respect to the present Wiki quoted information as 19 October 1945, Cincinnati, Ohio. Seven years is a long time. Is anyone able to specifically pin this one down ?! She has since worked as a musical supervisor for films and is presently living in Sierra Leone, where she is building The Marc Bolan School Of Music And Film.
She now resides in New Salem, PA with her new husband, Chris Mitchell.

Age displaying wrongly[edit]

If she was born 1945-10-19 then as of today she should be 71 not 69. I've tried fixing it but it refuses to correct itself. Can anyone please sort this out? 2.29.250.107 (talk) 09:33, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jerry Garcia Band?[edit]

Is this the Gloria Jones who was in the Jerry Garcia Band from 1984 to 1995? The article sure doesn't say anything about that, so maybe that was a different person. I tried looking this up on Allmusic, with mixed results. In the credits for this Gloria Jones, here, one Jerry Garcia Band album is listed, they may be getting mixed up -- for a different Gloria Jones, here, they list another Garcia Band album. I'm bumping this thread from 2011. A few months ago, editor Tonymannara added the Jerry Garcia Band information to this article, here and here. I've gone ahead and added links to and from the album articles. But, how do we know that the Gloria Jones who sang Motown songs like "Heartbeat", and later performed with T. Rex, is the same Gloria Jones who was in the Jerry Garcia Band? It's certainly plausible, but I still don't see a reliable reference saying that "the two Gloria Joneses" are actually one and the same person. I'm going to move what you said from the article to here: "Although Ms. Jones was previously noted in this listing as being a former member of the Jerry Garcia Band, that is simply not the case. Coincidentally, another vocalist named Gloria Jones (from Oakland, CA) is credited as being one of the late Jerry Garcia's longtime backup vocalists in his band from 1984 - 1995. The Gloria Jones who was in the Jerry Garcia Band died on February 1, 2019.[1][2][3] Again, this article is about a different singer named Gloria Jones. There have been several recent edits on this article by people who, naturally enough, are thinking that they are the same person.
