Made some grammatical and syntantic corrections. Lacatosias 10:06, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

"Andeotti's approach owed little to a belief that market mechanisms could be left to work without interference." The grammar of this sentence makes it confusing to understand. Does it mean that Andreotti's believed that market mechanisms could not work without interference? Please make wording more concise. Rosanamgoong (talk) 04:11, 25 August 2016 (UTC) (rnamgoonucsd)

Article needs sources for its statements

This article needs sources for its statements. It has only one external link and does not source any statements including ones that claim he has conspired to murder, was a strong ally of the mafia et cetera. Whilst these are surely true statements they must be backed up by other reliable sources. The page for Silvio Berlusconi is a great example of how such an article should/could look. (see; Silvio Berlusconi - References) I hate be the bearer of hypocrisy but I have no time to find the sources myself and was not looking to criticize but to help out what could be a really good article on a very notable figure. High priority in my opinion. - Alexbonaro 13:21, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Some of the things states in the article are false. He didn't avoid formal conviction due to statutory limitations. He was never convicted of Mafia contacts for the Italian law that require a definitive sentence to say that someone was convicted. After that the article is still confusing, saying that he was left untouched by tangentopoli and then he was involved in Mafia. Tangentopoli was an affair of political corruption. Nothing to do with Mafia. And Andreotti was never convicted about Mafia. The other paragraph is all crazy. Andreotti was acquitted of every thing: Mafia and Pecorella murder. The other are fake things, in contrast with the Italian law and with every law system that states that someone is not guilty until definitively convicted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.49.103.227 (talk) 02:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Article's credibility is damaged early by the lack of sources regarding Andreotti's political and personal background. The second paragraphs of both the lead and "Background and attributes" sections do not contain any sources. By not following Wikipedia's general procedure of providing at least one citation per paragraph, these statements, which are important to capturing Andreotti's essence, are unfounded and thus untrustworthy. Rest of the article (generally well-cited) more difficult to interpret without an accurate understanding of Andreotti as an individual. Bhl041 (talk) 02:09, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Social Policies

The language in the first couple of sentences including "A law of 11...a Land Use law of.." could be changed to be more concise and article mannered. Also there should probably be a reference or citation needed to back up the very first sentence "Andeotti's approach owed little to a belief that market mechanisms could be left to work without interference". --ThisisnotDavid1154 (talk) 19:39, 30 August 2016 (UTC)David Choi

Pecorelli and Dalla Chiesa

"Pecorelli wrote his articles of Andreotti using the help of the general Dalla Chiesa, killed too some months later." That is a disputed statement. A reliable reference is required, otherwise it will be deleted. - Mafia Expert (talk) 12:39, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

fwiw, the above was claimed in the movie, 'Il Divo' which is a history of the events. I doubt that a movie rises to the level of a 'reliable reference'.

Please pay attention! in the chapter "Assasination of Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa" it is said that both Dalla Chiesa and Mino Pecorelli were members of Propaganda 2; it is partly true becasue Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa was not member of the masonic lodge but his brother Romolo was (see "Lista degli appartenenti alla P2" on italian Wikipedia). Falcone at the ministry of Justice?

The article is incorrect: actually Giovanni Falcone was never a minister. This should be fixed.--pokipsy76 (talk) 11:37, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

It does not say Falcone was the minister, it says he worked at the ministry. The article is correct. - Mafia Expert (talk) 12:47, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, it says "thanks to the presence of Falcone at the ministry", maybe it would be more clear if we specify his role.--pokipsy76 (talk) 14:02, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Dead Link for reference Alexander Stille article, ref 14

I have no idea how to fix this, but here is a correct link. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/all-the-prime-ministers-men-1602608.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.66.223.128 (talk) 13:33, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Done, thanks for sorting this out. - DonCalo (talk) 17:37, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Trial for Murder

There is no explanation as to why Andreotti was acquitted. Perhaps an explanation would be helpful. Rosanamgoong (talk) 04:03, 25 August 2016 (UTC) (rnamgoonucsd) That's because he was not acquitted... I don't know who wrote this page, but either he knows nothing of italian history or he was a close Andreotti's friend...--62.211.113.228 (talk) 21:03, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Trial for Murder

This page is clearly written by a Andreotti fan! He was not acquitted at all... the court declared he was guilty of mafia related crimes until 1980, after 1980 they couldn't prove it so it fell into "statute barred" in 2003. Also, when speaking about his supposed kiss with Riina, I found it very little neutral that the article tries to discredit the witness.--62.211.113.228 (talk) 20:59, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Influence on culture

As a whole, this section feels rather disjointed and does a poor job contextualizing Andreotti's social responsibilities. In its current iteration, the coverage of film censorship appears to have an anti-Andreotti bent. Andreotti's ability to censor films via allocation of state funds is mentioned, but its motivation is glossed over. "To ensure that state funds were not used to prop up commercially unsustainable films" describes state vetting as a preemptive measure. Perhaps there are infamous examples which motivated the Italian state to be more stringent with its film subsidization. On the other hand, Andreotti may have in fact been censoring domestic media. Regardless, this section requires more fleshing out to alleviate the apparent bias. Bhl041 (talk) 02:34, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

[18] is out of place, as the beginning of the paragraph makes use of the source yet the citation does not appear until the end. Additionally, the paragraph's beginning, discussing neorealism and Andreotti's support for raunchy comedies, is a paraphrasing of the source. The author(s) for this section shuffled the source's structure and replaced words with synonyms, resulting in a jumbled contribution. Similar to the rest of the section, coverage of Andreotti's influence over the development of Italian film industry can be strengthened by additional, well-cited research. Trial for Mafia association

This section is clearly biased! The reality is twisted to make Andreotti look good. Prosecution is depicted as being out of its mind and basically the section is a defence statement. It should be rewritten in a more objective and impartial way, as Andreotti links with Mafia are not a crazy hypothesis but a solid truth stated in a court ruling! It is certain that he was colluted with mafia until 1980, but he was not convicted because the time was over the prescriptive period![1] How wrote this section?! His attorney? --Profeffor Angel (talk) 09:51, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

I changed the section according to wiki:it. I think that now is better. Alex2006 (talk) 14:22, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
