Authentification?[edit]

The term "online authentification" is used throughout the article. I believe it should be replaced by "authentication" or "identification" depending on what the process really tries to achieve. Can someone familiar with the process please fix this? Apapadop (talk) 12:57, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flag usage in "valid in" section[edit]

"Driving licences are not replaced in Germany"[edit]

They didn't use to be, but now they have a "valid until" date (see de:Führerschein_und_Fahrerlaubnis_(Deutschland)#Verpflichtender_Umtausch_alter_F.C3.BChrerscheine_bis_2033), although they are replaced less frequently (every 15 years) than identity cards (10 years). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.88.58.137 (talk) 15:17, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Officially, drivers licenses are not considered to be identificaton documents. In practise, they are widely accepted.--MB-one (talk) 21:51, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Compulsory ID[edit]

The article says "it is compulsory for all German citizens age 16 or older to possess either an identity card or a passport". Does this apply to German citizens living outside Germany? Peking Duck (talk) 01:24, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Uses outside Germany[edit]

This edit war is becoming silly. Here are some facts: - the German ID cannot be used in Montserrat, it was never possible, even before Brexit. Now it's definitely not possible. Do not believe references such as from VisaHQ or VisaDos. If you can't back it up with a government website then don't write it. - overseas French territories are NOT part of the EU. Even the Wikipedia article for French overseas territories states so. Reunion is a French province, and some territories do accept it, mainly in the Caribbean, but French Polynesia definitely does not. The immigration specifically askes for a passport, says they are "special" and will not like anyone arguing "it says so on Wikipedia". - if the German article doesn't state it possible then that's there is a high chance that it's not 151.253.161.116 (talk) 01:59, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
