NPOV/sources[edit]

Some pretty important assertions being made here. Needs to have sources attached to them. Highfructosecornsyrup 22:23, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Middle initial in title[edit]

Is there some reason this article is not titled Gerald Garson? --Fang Aili talk 22:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's been remedied. Ruthfulbarbarity 18:16, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tone[edit]

Much of this article has a non-encyclopedic tone reminiscent of a "true crimes" magazine, including un-encyclopedic slang terms, sentence fragments, and dramatic development. In addition, the details of the sting and prosecution greatly dominate what purports to be a biographical article (even a picture of the courthouse). This might better be divided into two articles, one a biography and the other about the sting), or the breathless details edited down until the criminal case occupies a space proportional to its significance in the career of the person whose name is the article's title. Yes, it's an important aspect of his life, but it isn't 8/9ths of it. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 22:31, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article reflects the RS sources, which a review of them indicates. Shorter sentences are, as tests have shown, easier to read, comprehend, and retain. The longer sentence that was just manufactured of two shorter ones, for example, is arguable unhelpful to the reader. Too unwieldy. This article encapsulates and reflects what has been written in articles about the subject. As to what should be reflected, we reflect what the RSs reflect. If they saw fit to devote most of their coverage to the sting, we mirror that.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:01, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This artice is a fascinating read. Thank you. --Luckymelon (talk) 22:05, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edits by Nikkimaria[edit]

As has been pointed out by another sysop, Nikkimaria has engaged in a series of edits here that degrade the article. I would ask her to desist, and I indicate my agreement with BHG, and ask Nikki to not edit against consensus.

I would also like to point out that I'm surprised, yet again, subsequent to me having a substantive disagreement with Nikki elsewhere, to see her making such controversial edits to an article I've previously brought to DYK, which attracts very, very few edits as a general matter. I'm happy that the assumption of good faith leads me to believe it is yet another coincidence. But would like to point out that such assumption is a rebuttable assumption. I hope I will not see a continuation of such statistically improbable coincidences. --Epeefleche (talk) 15:55, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I hope that as I continue to work through articles in need of reference improvements, I will see fewer from you. Looking at the edit in question, I'm having difficulty seeing what change might be seen as "degrad[ing]" the article. I did add some visible tags indicating where input from you is needed to complete references, but that is simply flagging an existing problem. Other than that, my edits were entirely consistent with community consensus. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:44, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Air Force service[edit]

Recommend adding rank and positions held (military occupational specialty or branch), duty stations, and more specific dates of service if ascertained in reliable sources. I was unable to locate any specifics about his service in Newspapers.com or Fold3 (a good source for primary documents on military service). Semper Fi!
