Dance training[edit]

It would be pertinenet to include the fact that he received extensive traing from Bov at the foundry dance studio in warrington —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dajhm1 (talkcontribs) 22:20, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Do you have a source? I thought he was with another studio. - Mgm|(talk) 10:57, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DOB[edit]

Resolved

Where have you got his date of birth from? I've seen it on various fan sites, i.e bebo groups etc. But haven't found a solid site with his date of birth on. Thenthornthing (talk) 13:17, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quite right, me neither. I've changed it to just his age.LHMike (talk) 20:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On 7 June 2008 George Sampson posted the following message onto his myspace page "Lil G chicargo rock 29th june ( my bday) 12 til 7.30". i think this may be proof enough. Now leave the lad and his birthday alone please. Thanks.[www.myspace.com/sampsonite33.com].--Audrey Knight (talk) 23:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One, myspace is not a place to refrences to link to. Two you need to login {and add as a friend} to see the details. Three, it may not be his myspace, but someone pretending to be him. It's not unheard of. Until accurate factual sources arise, leave the date alone. If anyone changes it without saying so here it'll be reverted. Thenthornthing (talk) 05:58, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seems his date of birth has been proven to be 29 June. Case closed.--Audrey Knight (talk) 11:35, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Health / Scheuermann's Disease[edit]

Concerning Scheuermann's affecting the optic nerve, I believe this is unlikely, despite a widely reported interview. Scheuermann's appears from available references to be a skeletal disease of the spine, causing curvature. It may affect the nerves in the spinal column. However, the optic nerves do not travel through the spinal column, and are unlikely to be directly or even indirectly affected by compression of or damage to the spinal column / nerves in the region of the thoracic vertebrae. DMcMPO11AAUK/Talk/Contribs 23:28, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The young man may have said it, but he would be mistaken if he believes it. Scheuermann's doesn't cause eye illness period. I wonder if this section of the article should be stricken unless more reliable information is available. --MartinezMD (talk) 23:31, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the overall prevalence of Scheuermann's is 2.8% [1], i wouldn't call it a rare disease.

TOUR[edit]

I think there should be a new section for the tour, which has just started. I was there at hammersmith on 6th june and i george sampsons fame is spiralling out of control as over 300 people waited for him after the show at the back exit, which he was supposed to use to escape. He was mobbed. when on the bus he was waving with the cheeky monkeys, when his bus left the theatre hundreds of people ran after it, he waved at me!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.65.233.79 (talk) 08:29, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a bit about the tour, with vague info collected from fans. Hopefully someone can help out with more info. 69lolz4 (talk) 11:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, "vague info from fans" is not good enough, we need reliable sources which can be verified. --Rodhullandemu 11:35, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Yeah, the kid has beocome famous, that's why he has an article here. There's no need to state it blatantly.Mc8755 (talk) 13:01, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Serious Editing Needed.[edit]

Resolved

In the "After the Event" section, why on earth are the rumours included? In the citation he says he it would be a dream to dance in a Justin Timberlake video. Not cause for inclusion. And the "Billy Elliot Movie" thing was another rumour which has no confirmable source. Request for deletion of information.Mc8755 (talk) 12:59, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The rumour information is no longer there. - Mgm|(talk) 10:53, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

george sampsons age[edit]

Resolved

george sampson is 14 not 15. his date of birth is 29/06/1993 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.63.59 (talk) 14:19, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We still have no reliable source for this. YouTube and MySpace are not reliable sources. --Rodhullandemu 14:21, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately cannot be sourced, but he was 14 when he won the competition and is now 15. Until sources can proove this we arelimited as to what we can place in the article. Thenthornthing (talk) 16:28, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yer, George was 14 when he won. Nittynora25 (talk) 15:49, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • We now have a reliable source for his birthday. - Mgm|(talk) 10:53, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

George Sampson's Middle Name[edit]

According to a video of Geroge on Youtube, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef33fWJThTg) George says to the camera that his middle name is "William". Now, I'm not sure if this is true. If anyone else has the same thoughts, then i'm most sure that his full name is George William Sampson.

Wikipedia Isn't meant to cite references from youtube. Although he is saying this himself, I haven't viewed the video so don't know for sure, but the video would have to be an official one off the ITV BGT website for example Thenthornthing (talk) 06:26, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Go onto this site (http://www.georgesampsondances.co.uk/#) It's the official George Sampson site as Syco protects and owns the website. On Clip 3, George says his full name in a clear tone "George William Sampson" towards the beginning of the clip. The clip is in accordance to Syco trademark, and as partners of ITV, filmed the clip, which therefore makes it official. This is coming off of the official George Sampson Site so it is an eligable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.236.49.74 (talk) 20:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

George is LEFT HANDED[edit]

Resolved

Ok, same official george sampson site (http://www.georgesampsondances.co.uk/#), on all the clips, George signs autograph and plays pool with his left hand. Unless you need george to tell some news article that he's left handed, am I correct to assume that he is left handed? Could someone go onto his profile and add that please! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.236.49.74 (talk) 20:09, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • We have a whole lot of articles about well-known people, but this is usually not a piece of information that is included. - Mgm|(talk) 10:22, 25 November 2008 (UTC) heya[reply]

George's Summer Project[edit]

Resolved

Sourced from (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/2117702/George-Sampson-Mum-has-banned-girls-from-sleepovers.html), George is intending to build a summerhouse in his garden as a private den for him and his mates. His mother, Lesley bans him from bringing girls over to his summerhouse. George quotes: "We'll see". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Finalstriker 116 (talkcontribs) 20:26, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many famous people say things, this doesn't mean they are worthy in the article. In future you could add what you think is right to the article, and then if wikipedians think that it is suitable it'll be kept. Thenthornthing (talk) 20:59, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't see how this is relevant to a biography... - Mgm|(talk) 10:55, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Description[edit]

Resolved

20:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC) Why does the description read like it was written by a five year old? And how could you not mention how fit he is?

1. We have some editors who are not used to writing in an encyclopedic style. 2. Because that would not be a neutral point of view. --Rodhullandemu 11:55, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that but you could have said that many people (such as me) think he is very fit. Others only think he is midly fit. Problem sorted! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oinkleworkorelse (talkcontribs) 16:21, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've done a rewrite. I should be able to add more information in the next couple of hours/days. - Mgm|(talk) 10:20, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Videos on the DVD[edit]

Are the videos on the DVD, "Singin' in the Rain", "Candy Girl", "Headz Up" and "Get Up On the Dance Floor"? - Mgm|(talk) 14:19, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, there's also a documentary and a photo gallery Bep-and-matt (talk) 16:32, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We should make a discography for him, because he alredy have four songs like candy girl, get up on the dance floor, headz up and body language. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yags931 (talkcontribs) 01:46, 15 May 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Thanks, but they have to be free of copyright here. Rodhullandemu 01:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another George Sampson[edit]

The talented young dancer in the UK should not be confused with another George Sampson who is a San Jose, California news announcer on KLIV radio. Prior to that this George sampson worked for many years in public television (KTEH San Jose, California)where he hosted a pet show (PetPourri) and was the Sunday Science Fiction Night Video Jockey on public television station KTEH. The San Jose George Sampson is aware of the British George Sampson and wishes him well. For reference see: http://kliv.com/George-Sampson/1207779 EdFlabeets (talk) 18:46, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It would only become a real problem for us if the San Jose George Sampson had an article here; in which case we'd disambiguate the two. But it's good to hear his good wishes. --Rodhullandemu 18:59, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

I have been authorised by George to update the picture on his Wikipedia article. He does not believe it is a fair representation of his appearance and likeness at present. I will therefore make the necessary amendments.

Please let me know if you have any concerns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghyde1992 (talkcontribs) 11:50, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

'Dumped by Simon Cowell'[edit]

I have spoken to George and been authorised to amend this line. George commented that it was an amicable separation and not a one-sided sacking.

Please let me know if you have any concerns about this amendment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghyde1992 (talkcontribs) 11:53, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
