Untitled[edit]

This text is identical to http://www.emma.cam.ac.uk/about/famous/index.cfm?id=14 which cites "Nobel Lectures, Chemistry 1963-1970, Elsevier Publishing Company, Amsterdam, 1972." Shouldn't you do the same?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.20.54.110 (talk) 11:28, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Version reverted to is dated 00:37, 28 November 2005 by Timrollpickering. Now we should go through and find all the contributions since then that aren't copyvios, and add them back in. JRawle (Talk) 11:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

THIS IS IDENTICAL BECAUSE EMMANUEL COLLEGE HAS PLAGIAGISED WIKIPEDIA! I SPENT AGES WRITING THIS (I ACTUALLY STUDIED WITH GEORGE PORTER) AND USED AS MAIN SOURCES HIS OBITUARIES, ESPECIALLY THAT FOR HIS MEMORIAL SERVICE AT ST. MARGARET'S, WESTMINSTER, WHICH I ATTENDED. I haven't the time, so perhaps some one else can re-instate some of my better prose. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.152.173.214 (talkcontribs) 23:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

But they claim their biography is taken from the Nobel Lectures publication mentioned above. Are you saying that isn't the case? JRawle (Talk) 01:59, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification from Emmanuel College[edit]

The text on this page http://www.emma.cam.ac.uk/about/famous/index.cfm?id=14 was taken from Paul Daoust's biography of George Porter here on Wikipedia and should have been (and very soon will be) credited as such. The citation is specifically for the photograph which, during a redesign of the website, was moved and has clearly become misleading.

My apologies for the confusion we have created and our thanks to Paul for his text, Emmanuel Webmaster. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tac21 (talkcontribs) 07:36, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. The removed text can now be merged back in, although care should be taken not to lose contributions made since it was removed. JRawle (Talk) 13:39, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IC[edit]

he spent time in IC, had a room there. any idea what he was doing? (aside from not undergrad lectures) found some vague mention in https://www.imperial.ac.uk/chemistry/about/our-history/nobel-prizes/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C8:6001:4901:3512:53F7:127E:BF63 (talk) 19:02, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
