Member of Parliament?[edit]

This unsourced claim seems really thin on its face. Mason was only 11 years old when the Long Parliament was elected in 1640, and 19 when Charles I of England was beheaded. As a Royalist officer, he certainly wouldn't have been an MP after that date. Rklear (talk) 17:02, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"American slave owners" category[edit]

Does anyone know when the Mason family started owning slaves? I know that the year the first man in Virginia to be declared a slave - John Casor - was in 1654 and the slave status of the mother devolving onto the child was codified by the Virginia colony in 1662...I am just not certain we can state that George Mason I was a slaveholder without a reliable source verifying that statement.
