Definition of the article's subject[edit]

The subject matter of the article needs to be properly defined in the opening sentence, which needs no be of the form "GeoDesign is [the definition inserted]". Right now it is very unclear if the article is about a company, an organization, an artistic concept or what. Nsk92 (talk) 17:14, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, it is better now. Nsk92 (talk) 18:31, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The major problem of this article is that Geodesign is a term promoted by ESRI, who is also organizing the conference (GDS). The article seems to be written to bring validation to this new "discipline" and to distance it from the geodesign services that ESRI is promoting. The article should clearly state that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.220.8.117 (talk) 01:28, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Scope of Definition[edit]

While a great start, I think the definition as it stands is very technology-centric, and more particularly GIS-centric. I don’t think this quite captures the vision and promise of geodesign as being, as Jack Dangermond put it, not just technical but interdisciplinary integration. Moreover, the presentations and discussion at the 2010 Geodesign Summit expressed that the large-scale problems that geodesign seeks to help require a new change model that stresses interdisciplinary collaboration rather than a continuation of current efforts in which each technology or discipline sees itself as the all-encompassing center.

To help move to a consensus, I have put a broader draft definition in a sandbox (See [[1]]), from which anyone may borrow or edit as they see fit. Ekuhai (talk) 22:10, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 06:16, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
