Ingrians ... did not officially exist[edit]

'The Soviet Union was silent about the Ingrians and they did not officially exist.'

Probably b/c they were considered just Finns and it wasn't seend as so important which area they were from. This wording makes the choice of a certain degree of fineness in a classification sound sinister. 87.126.21.225 (talk) 15:31, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do Russian historians agree that it's genocide?[edit]

The article cites only Finnish sources. Do Russian historians agree that this was a genocide? Ethnic cleansing, possibly, but killing the entire population was neither attempted or achieved. 87.126.21.225 (talk) 15:34, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

merge with "deportation of the ingrian finns"[edit]

This article does not cover anything missing from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deportations_of_the_Ingrian_Finns.

WP does not have an article for "genocide of the volga germans," but the conditions of their deportations were identical. Genocide seems like a less accurate term than ethnic cleansing - a quick search (including 2-3 of the citations on this page) shows that ethnic cleansing is the consensus. Deportation seems rather like whitewashing, if it is moved to anything, it should be "ethnic cleansing". TylerBurden (talk) 20:49, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name Change?[edit]

The genocide targeted Ingrian Finns, so why has the title been changed to "Finnish genocide"? Betelgeuse X (talk) 16:32, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Betelgeuse X: I'm not sure. Changing it to the Ingrian Finnish genocide would've been fine, but I'm confused as to why it was changed to Finnish genocide (Soviet Union), especially since the edit summary for it says "Vanisherman moved page Ingrian Finn genocide to Finnish genocide (Soviet Union): Actually there really isn't another comparable major event called Finnish genocide in history", which doesn't make much sense either because why add (Soviet Union) to the end in that case? Perhaps changing it to Ingrian Finnish genocide would be better. Still, this should be discussed on the move discussion page. ~Strawberry of Arctic Circle System (talk) 02:57, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There should have been consensus before moving it in the first place. Betelgeuse X (talk) 04:54, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
