Picture of Gary Cox Does anyone have a picture of Gary Cox? Felixthehamster (talk) 08:34, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Keep it objective[edit]

A lot of this hyperbole is not in Gary's interests, and surely not in the spirit of the BLP.

I changed this, for example:

'In 2010, Cox reinforced his reputation as one of Britain’s foremost "pop philosophers" with the publication of How to Be a Philosopher'

to 'In 2010, Cox continued his efforts to popularise philosophy in the UK with the publication of How to Be a Philosopher'

The earlier version would seem to need a citation, at minimum.

(Hamster: I just noted that Gary has several pictures of himself on his website.)

Sources[edit]

I've added a header that this article is poorly sourced. I also deleted info about a book that has not yet been published. The user who has made most of these changes has not made edits to any other Wikipedia article, so I doubt they are entirely objective. I don't really care if that person is Gary Cox himself, though Wikipedia rules say that one shouldn't write an article about oneself, but the article reads too much like a press release, and should be more objective and sufficiently sourced.

So that same, single user has reverted my changes. This article is simply a press release, and without citations for many of its subjective comments, should be trimmed substantially.

I'm now going to request that this page be protected from edits. While the user who has written most of this page may disagree, it's not their place to remove Citation Needed notes.
