It should be noted[edit]

It should be noted that many references to the studio describe them as Islington; this is due to the confusion with the N1 postcode, and they may have been called Islington Studios during their lifetime. However, the actual site is wholly within the London Borough of Hackney, in Poole Street. Kbthompson 10:52, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV - to say the least[edit]

'From 1942 to 1946, a series of morally ambivalent costume melodramas was produced by Gainsborough for the domestic market.'

I think 'morally ambivalent' needs a little explaining. Valetude (talk) 19:19, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

7 years on, and still no explanation, so I've removed the phrase. GrindtXX (talk) 13:19, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures/Studios[edit]

The company was called Gainsborough Pictures; but we also refer to and bold Gainsborough Studios in the lede, as if it were an alternative name. (It's also a redirect to this page.) Was it in fact an alternative name for the company for all or part of its history? Or did it just refer to the physical studios in Islington? Or was it actually never used during the company's history, but is merely the name of the replacement apartment block on the site? Can somebody please clarify.
