GE demonstrators[edit]

General Electric Demonstrators #7025-7028 became Southern Pacific #7025-7028 in Aug 1966.

GT598 Generator or GTA 9D1 Alternator[edit]

All 47 Phase I U28Bs had the GE GT 598 generator. There were 101 Phase II U28Bs, a total of 20 late Phase II units were built with the GE GTA 9D1 alternator. The other 91 Phase II U28Bs were built with the GE GT 598 generator. Locomotive historian A J Kristopans compiled this information from Moser sheets. See LocoNotes message #35590 July 26, 2003.
