Updating[edit]

This page needs some updating work if the Volga page is correct. It says there that the Volga line is going to be revived as classic cars, but here it says they're going to be phased out. Is there confirmation for either one?

The "Andersson leadership" section has some parts written in future tense about past events ("In 2012 GAZ is starting preproduction of the new-generation light commercial vehicle GAZelle-Next. The new GAZ model will be launched into mass production in 2013.").Zmoreira (talk) 14:31, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:GAZlogo.gif[edit]

Image:GAZlogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:01, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A good source for expanding the article[edit]

Anyone interested in expanding this article, the book "Cars for Comrades" by Lewis Siegelbaum has a detailed discussion of the history of GAZ - in English. Голубое сало/Blue Salo (talk) 22:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Russian-language link[edit]

I've restored the links provided by 195.131.172.123 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). My Russian is a bit rusty, but it's good enough to see that the link is indeed about the subject of this article. Now, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links)#Non-English-language sites says that non-English-language sites are OK "when the webpage contains key or authoritative information found on no English-language site and is used as a citation (or when translations on English-language sites are not authoritative)." I don't know anything about Russian cars, and my Russian isn't good enough to tell me whether the English-language sites in the "external links" section contain all the info that's present in the Russian-language ones the anon provided. That's an editorial determination that can be made here. But the links shouldn't be removed merely because they're in Russian. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 08:00, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WWII[edit]

There should be some detail about GAZ war materiel production in WWII - the only clue is the listing of T-60 and T-70 tanks in the model list at the end. Anyone know enough to add something to the prose section? Squiddy | (squirt ink?) 12:37, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Separate article for GAZ Group[edit]

This article is about GAZ, not the parent company GAZ Group (which also includes entities such as Ulyanovsk Motor Works (UMZ), Nizhny Novgorod Motors, Ural Automobile Plant, Pavlovo Bus Plant (PAZ), Kurgan Bus Plant (KAvZ), Likino Bus Plant (LiAZ), Golitsyno Bus Plant (GolAZ), Avtodiesel Yaroslavl Motor Works (YaMZ), Yaroslavl Diesel Equipment Plant (YaZDA) and Kanash Vehicle Components Plant (KaAZ)).

A separate article for GAZ Group, a highly notable topic, should in my view be created and care should be taken not to put group-related info into this article.Rangoon11 (talk) 12:13, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
