Academic activities[edit]

What evidence is there that Ismean is an academic? The single source in that section doesn't mention him at all. // Chris (complaints)(contribs) 21:25, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took a class from him in the late 90's if that is helpful. 66.117.147.6 (talk) 23:12, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Roger Miret[reply]

i was also a student of his. - Richard Talife Healy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.187.169.157 (talk) 01:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Myself and Dr. Ismean had a conference in the Lower East Side section of Manhattan in 1997. We held a discussion on the male role in this age of quarrel we live in. They were certainly hard times as we are looking at situations involving death camps. He however has made me feel as if world peace is possible. -- Harley Flanagan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.106.131.250 (talk) 13:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

nigga is a straight up organic intellectual that would make gramsci proud. peace. elitism. secrecy. fury.

I saw them with Integrity in Germany back in the day. When dude was talking the demigod of the sun, I was confused. Knowing he's a Phaetonic scholar, it all makes sense now.--Kris Schmidt —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.110.169 (talk) 04:28, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did indeed work with James on an edition of Euripides' Phaethon. He is a very astute and sensitive reader of Euripides, but I consider him above all a great friend and scholar - Professor James Diggle, Queen's College, Cambridge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by James Diggle (talkcontribs) 10:56, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it was forgot to mention Dr. IsMean's work in Poland —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.215.27.238 (talk) 17:14, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why was certain aspects of this article changed[edit]

the "pinnacle of realness" removed? those are dr. ismean's real words. i feel that they should be added back without any problem. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.32.120.15 (talk) 19:15, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

James Ismean's Academic Activities[edit]

The article alleges that lead singer James Ismean is an accomplished scholar, holding a doctorate in classics and having co-written a book on Phaethon. No reliable sources have been presented that support this statement, or any other statement in that section.

PLEASE. THE CRITIC HAS A LONG HISTORY OF VANDALIZING AND DELETING VALID ARTICLES AND CLEARLY HAS NO FAMILIARITY WITH EITHER THE BAND OR THE RICH INTELLECTUAL TRADITION OF THE 1990S NEW JERSEY SHORE CORE SCENE. THIS IS OBVIOUS IN HIS FAILURE TO GRASP THAT "JAMES ISMEAN" IS A STAGE NAME ("JAMES IS MEAN"), AND NOT ONE UNDER WHICH HE PUBLISHES HIS ACADEMIC WORK. JOHN "JAMES" UNDERHILL IS INDEED AN ACCOMPLISHED SCHOLAR AND FREQUENT CO-AUTHOR WITH JAMES DIGGLE; THEIR LATEST COLLABORATIVE PROJECT, ODYSSEUS UNBOUND, IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON WIKIPEDIA AS WELL AS BOTH SCHOLARS' CURRICULA VITAE.

AS THE AUTHOR, I CAN ASSURE THAT THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IS 100% REAL. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FOVD (talkcontribs) 19:04, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So what you're saying is that this guy, in his spare time, sings for a Jersey hardcore band? If so, he's had some impressive tatoo removal done. Also, typing in ALL CAPS doesn't make your argument any more impressive. // Chris (complaints)(contribs) 19:17, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As a proud student of Dr. Ismean, I can say I can vouch for all the statements made on his behalf. The very idea of you doubting Dr. Ismean is a insult to the intellectual ability of all readers of this Wiki. You sir, are a poor, sorry sad little man. -- Richard Talife Healy —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.187.169.157 (talk) 23:03, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's great to have a student of this person here, because we have a real need for reliable sources. If you aren't familiar with newspaper coverage about this yourself, he certainly will be able to point us in the right direction, and something as unusual as an academic who moonlights as a musician of this sort will definitely have been the focus of lots of news articles. Can you help us find a few of those articles? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mayhaps I should mention that Dr. Iseman and I worked together on Iliou Persis together at Rutgers and Oxford in the late ought years. - M.L. West —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.162.31.130 (talk) 23:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • RfC response - While the IP author is certainly passionate, the information that he/she is promoting has continued to fail the basic tenants of Wikipedia: notability and (even moreso)attribution, meaning proof. Since this article is about a living person and the information is in doubt (ie - the tattoo issue) removing it is the only real option.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 17:54, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A 1.2 meg video as an image? Uh...no. HalfShadow (talk) 23:31, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You apparently don't understand the brutality and crucial need for such a picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.187.169.157 (talk) 00:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand a great many things. It is a pity that you, on the other hand, don't. HalfShadow (talk) 01:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support removing the video file; it accomplishes nothing that cannot be accomplished more effectively by a photograph. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

that animated gif is the pinnacle of realness. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.162.31.130 (talk) 14:42, 30 April 2008 (UTC) to take down such a moving image is to hinder the understanding that FOV has brought and to also go back on Dr. Ismeans hard academic work —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.69.86 (talk) 14:49, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Overwritten, but still nonsense. We're here to write an encyclopedia. If you just want to mess around, go to MySpace. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have no clue the ultimate realness that this gif provides us with. You deny not just some, but all. This is not MySpace, stop playing around. - Richard Talife Healy —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.187.169.157 (talk) 19:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am responding to a suggestion that User:FOVD and all of the anonymous IP addresses that have posted to this page are the same person. I am fairly certain that this is true. I suggest that, in order to make conversation flow more smoothly, FOVD should always login before he comments on this page; however, I will not try to force him to do this. Thoughts?
