Fuchai or Fucha[edit]

So has several pronunciations. Since cha seems to be the default, could we have an explanation on why this name is generally (but not always: cf google books) rendered Fuchai? — LlywelynII 16:25, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I found three sources with fú chāi the latest.--Jusjih (talk) 21:59, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I grew up hearing Fuchai, taught he was Fuchai. But here is a page (In Chinese) that cited various sources to suggest that ancient pronunciation is more likely Fucha, although both are probable, and both have been used since the King's own times: https://tieba.baidu.com/p/3308076174. The page cited in full the article in dispute that proclaimed "Fuchai" as the correct pronunciation. I agree with a reader's comment that modern Chinese has adopted Fuchai and that should be the standard; this does not mean it was the pronunciation used by the King himself. Presumably, this is the king of Wu whose daughters are mentioned committing suicide in the Fengxian District page? — LlywelynII 02:51, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(Retract previous talk) Interesting how the bot made the decision. The original site is now marked as containing malware.

Deeds of Goujian[edit]

The last two paragraphs in "Life", written from the perspective of Yue, are better suited for the article of Goujian. (Some of the details/citations are absent from the latter.) I'll try a paragraph from the perspective of Wu. Sillyvalley (talk) 10:09, 20 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There are more passages written from the perspective of Yue. In particular, planning and strategies used by Goujian are not directly relevant to this article and should go to his and his ministers' pages. Sillyvalley (talk) 11:52, 20 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
