Phrenectomy[edit]

Phrenectomy should not redirect here. To the best of my knowledge a phrenectomy is the removal of the phrenic nerve. Jasonbholden (talk) 19:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it REALLY necessary to have all those pictures there!?[edit]

Blood and everything, I don't think that would suit a lot of people. Stick them behind a warning instead? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.161.210.143 (talk) 18:16, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures[edit]

This article is about a surgical procedure. We're lucky enough to have a before, during and after picture of that surgical procedure. It's hard to imagine a more relevant or illustrative image, so it should stay. WP:NOTCENSORED clearly states: "Discussion of potentially objectionable content should not focus on its offensiveness but on whether it is appropriate to include in a given article. Beyond that, "being objectionable" is generally not sufficient grounds for removal of content.". Given that no other argument has been made for the image's removal, it is clear that it should stay. The dental procedure pictures were removed. I restored them as they are very valid and encyclopedic in nature. Yes, they are bloody, but surgery will be bloody. Previously, I removed the penis picture as it was a self-shot not concentrated on the procedure, but more pornographic in nature. Does anyone know if there is a way to code a warning before displaying pictures? That would be ideal. Wxrocks (talk) 05:26, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Objective contributions?[edit]

I was surprised to find this sentence without attribution: "Frenectomy is a very common dental procedure in the dental world and is performed both on children and adults." I checked and it was added on May 14 2012 by a certain Neetalia_Jones who has a history of adding mentions to dental articles minimizing their impact. I've only made very minor contributions so far, so I am not sure how to go about this. Is it legitimate? Should it ask for a reference? Be removed? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mozza (talkcontribs) 15:01, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"...who has a history of adding mentions to dental articles minimizing their impact". I'm not sure what you meant by that. Would you care to explain? Thanks, Oreo Priest talk 15:44, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I just saw your response, months later. Neetalia Jones has since deleted her page, but here is an example of minimizng dental procedures by adding "painless" to dental removal. You can see all of her contributions for yourself here. You'll notice that they all link to the same website. In any case, this article on frenectomy now says that the procedure is "very common", something that should be substantiated by a reference with supporting data, right? Is it ok to remove it until it is proven as fact?--Mozza (talk) 18:25, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You could remove it because it's uncited, but the better thing to do is actually check how common it is and then correct the language and cite. I'm not a dentist myself and I don't have a feeling for how common it is. Oreo Priest talk 16:13, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Penile frenectomy[edit]

Do local clinic perform penile frenectomy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.114.206.163 (talk) 10:19, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Frenectomy is different than frenotomy[edit]

fFrenectomy is the removal of a frenulum. Frenotomy is a cut. The lingual frenulum surgery in infants in the vast majority is a cut (frenotomy). Mixing up two different surgical interventions is only adding confusion not information. 93.71.93.80 (talk) 19:32, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
