Clarity needed

Hi. The Continental Army was a full (uniformed, federal control, etc.) army endorsed and created by the Continental Congress, along with bureaucracy, budgets and an actual payroll. Some militias were, at times, brought into the Continentals and as such were subject to their regulations, and rules, which became increasingly more professional as the war dragged on.

This, as opposed to militias. At the time, the militias were state-based, locally-raised forces, usually not well provisioned or having much of a uniform (think Minutemen). Often militias were largely voluntary (not a paid standing), although sometimes areas would come up with a stipend for individual service. Individuals would usually sign-up for the "warring" season, and be home by harvest time to winter-over. The Regular Army (though it's ranks also shrunk during the winter months) would bivouac many men in camps over the winter (think Valley Forge). GenQuest (talk) 22:23, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Introduction

This is a well-written and well-sourced article on an important Revolutionary War figure. The one part of the article that could be improved, in my opinion, is the introduction. I would recommend starting the article with Hambright's two most important political/military accomplishments: he led a militia at the Battle of Kings Mountain, and he signed the Tryon Resolves, which predated the Declaration of Independence. If no one objects, I'll give it a try myself. If my introduction fails to please, then the authors of this article can revert. 98.122.100.101 (talk) 12:17, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. While I agree that the introduction needs to be expanded at some point, I believe that more content is needed befoe this addition is made. If you could find some other sources which contain more information about the life of Hambright, that would be great. Thanks-(Wikipedian1234 (talk) 22:35, 20 December 2010 (UTC))

Birth & Death Dates

What sources do we have for these birth & death dates?
