Geez, what some fans did to him (throwing eggs, setting his car on fire, and whatnot) is what you would call "marking out to the full extent".

Blassie?[edit]

I heard when the WWE was pushing his book that his name was Blassic, not Blassie or Blassman. However, it might hve just been the poor quality of the sound in the commercial, so I don't want to change it until someone can confirm this.

That is correct--it is discussed at length in the book. The story that his birth name was Blassman is a myth:

Freddie's father was Yacob Peter Blaszi from Hungary, but he apparently changed the spelling to "Blassie" upon immigration. Thus, Freddie's brith name is truly "Blassie." This information can be found in Ancestry and Familysearch.Stembark (talk) 20:34, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Manager[edit]

This is the first wrestling manager's article I've come across where there is no list of wrestlers he has managed. It doesn't even mention that he was a manager. What gives? The list would include the Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff and Hulk Hogan.

Late WWF[edit]

He appeared at the 2000 Rumble to judge the swimsuit competition and then again in 2001 to inspire the troops against the Invasion. Is this notable enough to put in?Tony2Times (talk) 01:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music Career[edit]

The sound recording "Blassie, King of Men" has four performance, not the two listed: The song "Blassie, King of Men", the song "Pencil Neck Geek", both written for Blassie, a cover of the Jerry Reed song "U.S. Male", otherwise made famous by Elvis Presley, and a spoken-word piece called "No Doubt About It". koti.mbnet.fi/wdd/johnnylegend.htm covers the "Fred Blassie" record release details. Relationship to Unknown Soldier Michael Blassie?[edit]

I'm looking for a source confirming this, but as I recall Freddie was related to Michael Blassie, the Vietnam Unknown Soldier who was later identified via DNA testing. They also happen, of course, to share the last name, hometown, military affiliation, and physically resembled each other very strongly. Dubious claims[edit]

The article makes the claim that people in Japan had heart attacks and died as a result of seeing a match with Blassie in which Rikidōzan bladed and bled. This is an absurd statement, people do not die as a result of watching a staged and worked wrestling match. It reads like the kind of media hype that claims people vomited or passed out during horror films because they were "so shocking/grotesque". - Who is John Galt? ✉ 13:52, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
